The months just fly by, don't they? Donatella Versace, Our Lady of Scented Abundance,1 wants to know what you bought in the 3rd quarter (July, August and September) of 2013.
Update: the poll is now closed!
My purchases?
I bought a 30 ml bottle of The Body Shop Honeymania for $7. Look for a review later this week. Added to my first quarter damage (I didn't buy anything in the second quarter), my grand total for the year is $57.
As always, report your purchases in the comments if you dare! And as always, we don’t include samples or gifts, and you can count miniatures, decants and bottle-splits howsoever you like (I usually count them as half bottles).
1. Why does Donatella host (against her will, mind you) the damage polls? There is no real reason other than the picture of her perfume collection, which shows that she indulges regularly at the perfume counter. The image, by the way, is originally from Allure magazine and appears here courtesy of Blogdorf Goodman.
My total for all of 2013 is $20 if you include the Aedes samples. And you said that doesn’t count. I graduated in 2013 and I am already $0 in debt (I went to school in the US so this is saying a lot) so I am very happy about my spending habits. I mean, the fact that I went to community college and got scholarships is actually what helped and not that I didn’t buy perfume, but I am still happy with myself.
But I will buy perfume in a few weeks. Either Parfumerie Generale Coze (it should be about 80euro, I think?) or Eau D’Italie Bois d’Ombrie (about 98euro). It will be a present to myself for being so fabulous at budgeting and to mark my time in Hamburg.
I’d be happy with myself too…enjoy your upcoming new bottle!
I’ve bought quite a lot.
Travel sprays of Frederic Malle Dries van Noten and Portrait of a lady. Full bottles of Hugo Boss Boss woman, Etat libre d’orange Tilda Swinton/Like this and Byredo 1996.
Nice picks!
Is it that time again? It feels like these last 3 months flew by! Anyway I bought nothing at all *polishes halo*.
That means that my total for the year remains unchanged at 3 bottles and £150.
Seriously, feels like we just finished the last one…
Ok well I was going to brag about how good I’ve been until I got to Robin’s $57 for the whole YEAR, and suddenly my $87 for the quarter seemed profligate. I did pretty well for my indulgence though–a 15ml bottle of Timbuktu (thanks Sephora! wish L’Artisan were offering more of these), and small decants of Vanille 44, Dzing, and En Passant. Plus many wonderful treats for the cost of postage, in the swap! Very satisfying quarter in perfume acquisition, all in all!
Hey, but you got better stuff than I did! It was worth it.
It’s true, as perfume expenses go, I feel these were pennies well-spent–it’s just another stage of perfume nirvana entirely, not to feel a need to spend almost any pennies at all!
I’ve been a very good perfumista in third quarter of 2013 and I did obey my own purchasing rules.
I haven’t bought the perfume earlier than on the last weekend of September.
The day I was going back home from my almost 2-weeks-long stay in Warsaw I bought a coffret of Atelier Cologne Silver Iris. This cost me 925 PLN (that’s 220€/295$) but I’m splitting the 200ml bottle so my own expense is 265 PLN (62€/85$).
Not too bad!
I’m glad you got your Silver Iris!!
So am I!
I am drooling over the Silver Iris….
Haha! Are you going to get a bottle or bigger decant of it?
I found testers of La Fille de Berlin and L’Air du Temps EDP online for a steal, and I happened to find Eau des Baux on sale in a store that mostly sells soap… so more than usual for me. I’ve wanted all of them for a while, and it is harder for me to resist when there is a sale involved.
Wow, a Serge tester, congrats!
Yeah, they were on fragrancenet… I think they went fast though.
Lucky you!
I was pretty well-behaved this quarter, but I fear that’s only true in comparison with my shameful Q2. Anyway:
8 ml decant of Le Labo Ylang 49 ($15 or thereabouts)
backup bottle of YSL Y ($30?)
FB of Shalimar Light ($65)
FB of vintage Ma Griffe EDT ($20)
FB of what appears to be Ma Griffe extrait, though the packaging doesn’t indicate the concentration ($40)
and the big prize: 1/2 oz of sealed vintage Cabochard extrait ($85)
Call it $260? I also bought far fewer samples this quarter than is usual for me.
(Off-topic: I’ve been having some repetitive-stress pain in my wrist, so have been trying to cut back on non-work-related computer time. I miss NST terribly, but at least I’m exposed to less online-shopping temptation.)
Drat, forgot the 1/4 oz of vintage Molyneux Fete extrait ($50). Still, the Q3 total is less than the single bottle of Nahema extrait from Q2, so — progress?
Hey, how does the Cabochard smell?
Like heaven. Smoky and leathery, but somehow also plush and elegant, with a wonderful green note up top. Every time I think I’ve characterized it accurately, I notice a facet that seems to contradict my previous thoughts. It’s hard to do it justice.
Excellent — glad to hear it. It was a great scent.
OMG, nine bottles in just the 3rd quarter, one more bottle ordered yesterday that should arrive tomorrow.
Somebody STOP me!
Ha…my advice is to start a fragrance blog, and then keep at it for 8 or 9 years. Worked for me 😉
Would love to read the very beginning of NST. What was your first review?
Ha, I’d forgotten myself:
https://nstperfume.com/2005/02/08/chanel-une-fleur-de-chanel-fragrance-review/
I’m working on it! I certainly have slowed down my rate of acquisition.
Nine? You are making me feel better about my eight… 😀 What did you get?
Bn9 Success is the Essence of New York
Bn9 Manhattan (pocket spray freebie)
Hermes Eau de Narcisse Bleu
Christian Dior Eau Sauvage
Tom Ford Oud Wood
Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt (meh)
Thierry Mugler Cologne
Van Cleef and Arpels Tsar
Van Cleef and Arpels Pour Homme
Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin Midnight (ordered in Sept but arriving in Oct, does it count)?
Nine bottles? That makes me feel better about my total. What did you get?
See my response to SunsetSmells 🙂
Can I just say how glad I am that Donatella considers samples too minor a thing to even think about? I bought the following perfumes.
Sous Le Toit de Paris $70
Coeur d’Ete $70
Poeme $30
Dzhari $145
Tsukimi $40
Grand total for the quarter $355 and Tsukimi, once it arrives will be bottle #50
Donatella is very forgiving 🙂
I do want to smell that Sous Le Toit. Not a bad price, either.
The Sous Le Toit is very nice; in fact, it’s grown on me since I first tried it. I might be doing a split of the big bottle soon.
Thanks!
I bought a bottle of Eau de Polder (L’Essence de Mastenbroek), which I’d been thinking about for a while, and it was a great wildflower/grassy scent for the summer – will probably still wear it during warm fall days. Other than that, I’ve gotten my normal amount of samples, so I haven’t really been bad!
Had almost forgotten that one, glad to know they’re still making it!
I went really easy this quarter. All I bought was 50mL of Kate Walsh Billionaire Boyfriend for $16 at TJ Maxx. Sort of had buyer’s remorse on that one the day after, but we’ll see…
I’d also like to acknowledge some very sweet swap fairies who gifted me with some wonderful things this quarter!
Hey, that’s a deal! I liked the original one, can’t remember the Billionaire.
I bought more than usual this quarter, but I found a couple of really good deals and had an Amazon gift card to use. So my purchases were:
Chanel Egoiste Cologne Concentree 100ml – $65 (estate sale)
TM Alien Aqua Chic 60ml – $9 (TJ Maxx)
SL Chergui 50ml – $74
Dior Dune 50ml – $38
I used my gift card on Chergui and Dune, so after shipping I really only paid $19 out of pocket for the two together.
Forgot to add up my total.. it’s $186. Considering that $100 of that was a gift card, I think I did pretty well.
Nice estate sale find, congrats!
I was really restrained in the first quarter – ONE bottle! Then I went into total perfume-mania in the second quarter – not reporting figure…
This quarter I’v evened out a little:)
1 x 100ml Eau de Rochas $50 (at a discount shop)
2 x 30ml Imithi $41
1 x 100ml S.M. Novella Nostalgia $60
But – there are extenuating circumstances, I swear! I sold 2 bottles of perfume I was not wearing for $90. And, the Imithi was a ‘Its My Birthday This Month’ present. I used it so heavily during that week that I decided to go get another, since there was a half price sale the following week. And the Nostalgia was my actual birthday present perfume to self – lol!
All decent excuses 🙂
I would have brought up the fact that the dog ate my homework if I thought it would help;)
Never hurts!
I bought fifteen bottles this quarter but I have an excuse! I HAD to…sort of. Since I started reading the blogs a few months ago I discovered that reformulation had changed my favorite L’Heure Bleue so I had to stock up on the vintage stuff. I am rationalizing this by telling myself that it will only get more expensive to buy vintage in the future, so I am really saving money, aren’t I? Then there were the scents I fell in love with–CdG edp and Kyoto, Odalisque, Songes, Amouage Gold extrait (ouch), and a few others.
Nowhere near Donatella’s outlay and I expect the following quarter will be much more restrained, but probably more than $57.
Some beautiful scents there! But, I am curious – which are the other 10:)
You first!
Well, I listed what I got this quarter but was cagey about last quarter – though I did fess up on that poll!
It was, 3 L’artisans, 2 Carthusias, 1 lush, 1 Halston, 1 Serge Lutens and a Parfum d’Empire…
My excuse then was that 2 were testers and 3 were on sale, 1 was from a discounter, two because a friend went to Paris and I couldn’t miss the opportunity (right?), and one because I was in a city that had a Lush store.
Truth: I do a lot of fear shopping, lol!
I wanted last quarter–I need the company of people with expanding collections!
So–
Amouage Men’s collection sample set
Amouage Women’s collection sample set
Amouage Opus collection sample set
3 vintage L’Heure Bleue parfums from ebay
1 new L’Heure Bleue parfum for comparison
Knize Ten
Breath of God
Bois de Iles
Boucheron
Badgley Mischka
Vintage Shalimar edp
Eau de Mervelles
Plus the ones above. In my defense, most of these are teeny mini-bottles (not the L’HBs, though, bought big ones, and Knize Ten is full-sized). Really, eating tuna out of the can in the dark because I have spent all my money on perfume is romantic, and I smell so good! (Just kidding…)
Wow! Some nice frags there! And, best of all, you now got plenty supplies of your essentials. Have you received the L’heure blew parfum yet? What do you think? Congrats on the haul:)
This quarter I’ve been quite wellbehaved, just two new bottles:
Guerlain Gourmand Coquin
Guerlain Mitsouko extrait (in the little 8 ml spray bottle)
I’m very pleased with these, Mitsouko is my signature scent so I need a steady supply and I’ve gotten a lot of use from GC as well 🙂
Nice!
Not too bad, but I have been better.
I got:
Annick Goutal; Myrrhe Ardente (sale)
Nina Ricci; Fleur de fleurs ( very cheaply on ebay)
VCA; Bois d’Iris ( partial bottle in a partial swap)
Not bad at all.
Eau de Rochas 200ml, R&G Jean-Marie Farina 200ml, AG Eau de Charlotte 100ml, EM Molecule 01 100ml, Jour d’Hermes 85ml, SL Santal Blanc 50ml and Houbigant Fougere Royale 100ml. But as usual most of it was funded by editing my collection, so I probably paid half of what it would have been the total, plus a couple were Ebay steals (the SL and Eau de Rochas).
Eau de Rochas is on my wishlist. It’s a great cologne!
It’s lovely and long-lasting; most of all – its quite distinctive:)
I’m starting to hate the damage polls. I suck.
However, I stand by my record. Of my ridiculous # of bottles, all but 1 were much-desired backup bottles, long-sought-after, partial, and inexpensive vintage bottles, cheap ($5) yard-sale thrills, or long-planned-for bottles (I knew the Le Labo exclusives would come back around one day). The only “off the cuff” bottle might be mourned, but I’ve been really enjoying it.
So, the total hasn’t gone down (and makes me sad), but I actually got a lot more bang for my buck this quarter than I often have in the past. I can’t be sad about that.
Which Le Labo did you get??
Gaiac 10 was the precioussss. There may also have been some travel bottles of Vanille 44. (And limette. Dammit.) But the Gaiac is on my list of “never want to be without”, and the Vanille is like catnip for a vanilla collector like me. (I have no excuse for the Limette. It just grabbed me. Thank god for the mixable travel sets.)
I wanted to get Gaiac 10, but I took a look at the price tag and it just scared me. Guess I’ll never be shelling out for Diaghilev extrait!!
Fortunately I don’t passionately love Diaghilev. Unfortunately I do passionately love Gaiac 10!
One and I wasn’t planning on buying it but it basically fell into my hand. Eau Fraiche by Elizabeth Arden, vintage edition, lovely for summer. Got it online, heavily discounted, for about $6.50.
I also treasure a small new flacon of Aedes de Venustas but it was a gift so it doesn’t count – right?
Right! Donatella never counts gifts.
Mind you, I was so impressed by the new Pour Femme Intense by D&G that I almost bought it. Lucky escape! It’s missing something.
– Cuir de Lancome 50mls $50
– 15 mls of White Diamonds, with body lotion, $20 including shipping
– 50 mls of Elie Saab $37.50.
And then of course I bought my usual clutch of minis (First EDP, EDT and parfum; EL’s Pleasures) and decants (Theorema) and samples. Minis and decants are my way of FB avoidance so I don’t feel too bad.
I am rather close to buying a FB of Yvresse though, in the old bottle, as I hear the Yvresse in the new bottle has been reformulated.
Oh, thanks for the reminder to stock up on Yvresse! You should definitely go for it while the getting’s good.
Congrats on Cuir de Lancome — beautiful leather.
Thanks, yes, I’m coming around to the view that all that justifies FBs for me now are old formulations or discontinued perfumes. Once they are gone, they are gone.
(So why the bottle of Elie Saab? Because. And $37.50 is too good to pass up. 🙂 )
A Luckyscent sample order has just turned up. It looks as if Nicolai’s L’eau a la Folie has booked itself a spot in this final quarter, maybe as a Xmas present to myself. And yet how can I wait that long?
Love love love Cuir de Lancome.
Great choice in bottles!
I bought one bottle of Traversee du Bosphore for my self. It was on sale. And last weekend I bought 50 ml bottle of Mechant Loup for my husband. Does it count when it is a gift for some one else? (Even if it is kind of an selfish gift… ) Very happy with both purchases.
Gifts never count! Two great scent, I’m jealous. Keep meaning to buy Traversee.
Traversee is lovely. And that Loup is howling very nicely from my hubbys neck.
That photo of Donatella cracks me up. This topic makes me a bit queasy, though. Know for sure Mito and bell jar of ISM were this quarter. Have amnesia if there were other buys.
A little amnesia can be handy when Donatella is around 🙂
I bought a bottle of Shalimar Ode a la Vanille Sur la Route du Mexique – nothing else, not even samples.
You were good!
Ugh. I was bad. I bought Rubj, Whips and Roses, A*men, and a few other minor cheap thrills. That’s a lot more than I usually spend.
I really like Rubj but only sales justify purchases for me these days, and I am unlikely to find Rubj on sale.
That one was rough to buy because it’s way over budget. Hubby really likes it though so he insisted I get it. That was a first, so who am I to argue that?
Hi Poodle, congrats on the new additions to your family! And it’s great you now have something hubby adores – no matter the price:)
In four years of collecting, this was my cheapest quarter ever. I spent $16! There’s no zero after that: sixteen dollars. I got a small spray atomizer of Gorilla Perfumes 25:43 at the Lush store. It’s not exactly a summer scent, so I haven’t worn it a lot yet.
I’m feeling very satisfied with my collection. I never thought this day would come! It’s fun to shop from my decants and full bottles every day.
I like your idea of ‘shopping’ from what you already have. I do that too.
Nice! I want that same scent.
You done good, Suzy Q 🙂
Yayyyyy” I hope to get there. My “want” list is practically nonexistent at this point. Hope to grow up to be you!
My first damage poll and it’s a doozie at least for me. Five FBs:
Lolita Lempicka (have been wanting for yeeeears)
Bvlgari Black (discovered while reading about lolita, fell in lurve)
SJP Lovely (I blame Chandler Burr and TJMaxx)
Shalimar EDT (got a killer deal)
Vince Camuto for her giftset (I blame Kohls cupons LOL)
Plus some cheapo mini bottles I just picked up out of boredom for smelling something new. 🙂
Going to the Poconos this weekend and hitting every thrift store and flea market I can find. Hoping for a little serendipity-do-da from the vintage perfume gods!
These are some good ones.
Good luck!
I’ve been bad. Very bad. Until last week, my only purchases this quarter were SL Fleur d’Oranger and Ambre Sultan, both of which I really wanted. There was the odd sample set here and there (and there again) but who’s counting those? 😉 However, I have been going through a ridiculously busy time at work with late nights and many working weekends. Earlier this week, in a fit of work-induced depression and prompted by 20% discounts, I bought six (yes, SIX) bottles at one go – mostly unsniffed or “sniffed once, liked but not on the to-buy list”. I am now the slightly abashed owner of Etro Sandalo, Eau d’Italie, Paestum Rose, CBIHP Lavender Tea, Houbigant Orangers en Fleur EDT, SL Clair de Musc!
I counted all when I voted because I bought them for myself but I MIGHT gift the Houbigant to my mother and the Lavender Tea to a friend. Maybe next time I can then take off two bottles from my tally, if Robin’s rules allow netting across quarters? 🙂
LOL…like income averaging!! Nice.
Jealous of your Paestum Rose, love that one.
Well of you’re going to buy six bottles at least you bought six nice ones. These things happen sometimes.
I bought Coco M. EDP, Oscar by Oscar de la Renta and Pleasures by EL…oh and Chanel No. 5 EDC. That’s all:D. I may be done getting perfumes for a bit. Enjoy the ones I got. At least that’s the plan anyway.
Oh and Sensuous by EL. Ok done! LOL.
🙂
I thought I was good … then I started reviewing orders… But I did get good deals. 🙂
Madonna Truth or Dare Naked EDP 75ml $25
L’Artisan Parfumeur Patchouli Patch EDT 15ml $23
Chanel Coromandel EDT 75ml $139 (got it before Chanel raised the prices so I am happy)
YSL Opium EDT (vintage) .25oz $13.50
Loree Rodkin Gothic I parfum 1.69 oz $60
Bvlgari Black EDT 2.5oz (this is really for my son who wears this almost exclusively and I am trying to get him to stay away from mine :-)) $39
Guerlain Cologne du 68 EDT 3.4oz $49
PdN Kiss Me Tender EDP 30ml $48
$396.50 (sigh)
I also bought some samples and decants and candles, oh my!
(That 20% BH sale did not help, I tell ya!)
I promise to be much better next quarter, though. 🙂
Hey, nice prices…where did you get the Guerlain 68 for that price?
Those sales are a curse. I can’t resist them either. When I do let a sale pass by or a coupon expire I give myself many, many pats on the back. You got some good stuff. I’d be happy if I were you.
Finally got myself a FB of Chanel pour Monsieur + did a split of Costume National 21 with my girlfriend but in the end let her have all of it cause it just smelled so much nicer on her.
Costume National 21 is something I wanted to try but never got around to. I forgot about my Scent Intense sample but I revisited it today. I remembered it being headache inducing but I really liked it this time around. And they’re under $100/50ml yaaaassssss take that, “$250 is the new free” people.
Hey, bet it smells nicer on me too!!
j/k, that’s sweet. One day I will buy some 21.
Not bad, compared with other months!
Penhaligon’s, Elixir, 100 ml, $100
Serge Lutens, L’Eau Serge Lutens, 100 ml, $86
The Different Company, Rose Poivrée, 100 ml, $127.50
Annick Goutal, Nuit Étoilée, edp, 100 ml, $90
Histoires de Parfums, Édition Rare Pétroleum, 60 ml, $148
Comme des Garçons, Stephen Jones, 55 ml, $150
Hey, really nice picks. Jealous of your Elixir AND the Stephen Jones, both are on my buy list.
It was a big quarter for me – I bought a bottle of Guerlain Iris Ganache, Micallef Rouge No. 2 and Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser. However I also received 15 bottles that my BF bought me in Germany- well, I haven’t actually received them yet, he should be home tomorrow. 🙂
Biehl Parfumkunstwerke GS02
L’Artisan Mon Numero 3
Bruckner Aoud 1,2,3&4
Memo Granada and Irish Leather
Sospiro Wardasina and Melodia
Rundholz 03 April 1968
JF Schwarzlose Trance
Mancera Sand Aoud and Black Line
SP4 Skiron
Most of these are scents with low distribution, I asked him to bring back stuff I can’t get in North America. He did good!
Wow!! Hope the airlines stay out of his luggage 🙂
What are the rules for perfume on checked luggage? I’m so scared they’re going to take my perfume away from me.
Oh, I think you can have all you want…I just meant for customs.
When I was flying back into the States from France I had several bottles in my checked luggage, and customs didn’t even look twice at it on my form. I really don’t think it’s a big deal. He can just write on the form that they are gifts, which is true.
I am hoping so too – unfortunately he just called me to say the bag is currently MIA due to a rerouting and missed connection- please send positive thoughts for all to be returned safely!
Oh dear…very best of luck!
Good news, the bag arrived intact, yay!
So glad, that’s wonderful!
Here’s the damage for me:
Hanae Mori parfum and body cream $99.00
DSH Paradise Lost 1dram $125.00
Boyfriend Parfum $27.00
Boyfriend Red Train Case Kit $35.00
I did get great deal on all except the DSH and it’s a limited edition. The Boyfriend Train Case Kit may still go to my niece for Christmas.
That Hanae Mori parfum is so rich.
Nothing since purchasing Dries van Noten in May.
Got a sample of Portrait of a Lady and loved it,
have to retest to see if that is my next purchase.
Haven’t had a 4 month lapse in 20 years. 😉
Hey, you’ll be back on your game before you know it 🙂
This quarter I bought Orange Sanguine (1 oz) and Marni (2.2 oz). Both full price, but I’ve been pet-sitting recently and treat that as my “fun” money (aka perfume money!)
Good to have fun money!
Naughty again this quarter…
Fendi Theorema – 50 mL
Guerlain Shalimar Ode à la Vanille Sur la Route du Mexique – 50 mL
Lush Gorilla Devil’s Nightcap – 10 mL
Marni – 30 mL
Ormonde Jayne Four Corners of the Earth Montabaco –10 mL
Ormonde Jayne Four Corners of the Earth Tsarina – 10 mL
Ormonde Jayne Four Corners of the Earth Nawab of Oudh – 10 mL
Rituals Perfume Collection for Men Coffret – 3 x 10 mL
SoOud Hajj – 30 mL (don’t let the brand fool you…there is no oud in this)
Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane – 100 mL
My Precioussssss must be in their own category: (my beautiful niece was a perfume mule for 2 of these and I visited the Mothership in August and came home with Fourreau Noir)
Serge Lutens Bell Jar Boxeuses
Serge Lutens Bell Jar De Profundis
Serge Lutens Bell Jar Fourreau Noir
Decants:
Amouage Fate Woman
Guerlain Bois d’Armenie
Puredistance M
Puredistance Opardu – 60 mLs + 15 mLs “free” (I did say I was going to upsize and the deal I got was essentially 50% off the 100 mL cost…how could I refuse?)
*wiping unladylike drool from the corner of my lip*
LOL :-p
Seconding drool…
Bell jar of Boxeuses…. Sooooo jeallloooooouuuussss 😉
Boxeuses had been on my To Buy list since September 2012 when I got a sample from Barneys. When I heard that my niece will be in Paris for the French Open (she is such a tennis nut), I
…eeek, hit Post Comment too soon…
When I heard my niece will be in Paris to watch some French Open matches, I wasted no time in asking her to be my perfume mule!
Wow. You had lots of fun this quarter. Wow.
I definitely had fun acquiring some of the ones that were not available in the U.S. or else were sold at too high of a mark-up (I’m looking at you Barneys).
F.N is my favourites lavender, enjoy! One day I plan to scoop it up and it will be my 2nd bell unless it becomes an export first:)
I’m probably just being paranoid but for some reason, I think the slower selling bell jars end up staying “exclusive”. Of course selfish me thinks that everyone else should like what I like but I know that is not reality! The limited edition cat bell jar looks smashing but I don’t think I can part with close to €900 for that…although the Mandarine Mandarin Dragon bell jar, if available, may be worth it.
I was very good until my new husband, and like the best guy in the world, had to have emergency gallbladder surgery and the local hospital almost killed him with their incompetence, requiring a life flight to Montana. I kept myself calm with scent, and was using a decant of the beautiful Diaghilev at the time.
I scrounged up some money selling some unused jewelry to a pawn broker, took my $250 dollar credit check from Barney’s, and used the $200 dollar off anything around $1,000 at BG, and am now awaiting my “DH Lives! Celebration” with a full bottle of Diaghilev that I paid basically nothing for. Very excited.
I bought unsniffed a bottle of Balmaine Ivoire, and don’t like it. Shoulda known better.
And a bottle of Aromatics Elixir, as backup, and a bottle of Amber Precieux.
Phew.
All covered in my jewelry pawn shop caper, so I’m not even going to add it up. I’m just relieved…
Wow, I am glad your hubby is doing well.
Diaghilev and Risque are my favorites from Roja Dove but so far I have managed to not buy, yet…
Glad he’s doing okay now. Enjoy your celebration purchases!
Wow…so glad your husband is ok.
I’ve been careful this quarter. That laid off and hunting for a job the past two months has me being tightfisted with the money. NOT my natural state. One FB purchased- Bvulgari Black at about $60. Then there was the Frederick Malle 2012 coffret collection. 18 pristine little bottles. Purchased in Scottsboro, Alabama at the Unclaimed Baggage Store. Cost: $25.99.
Still amazed at that coffret find! So glad you got some toys to play with during this difficult financial time!
Life is good. I’ve had some interviews, and am waiting on results. Really, I want this job I saw in Doha, Qatar. Is it sad that my first thought on seeing it was that Qatar is closer to Oman, which means Amouage is all over the place?
Good luck!
WOW. Awesome find on the Malle coffret!!
A luxurious quarter for me. . .
3. . . no wait. . . 4!!! bottles plus two large decants:
Bottles of Zeta, Lipstick Rose, L’eau d’Hiver, and Bois des Iles. Large decants of OJ Ta’if and Lyric Woman. All lovely and well-loved, so no regrets, even if it’s a LOT of money!
Hey, you got really lovely things, congrats.
I can’t believe I haven’t made any scent purchases this past quarter! The time has just flown by! My last purchase was in April – large bottle of Atelier Cologne Oolang Infini and matching soap, and travel size bottle of AC Mistral Patchouli which was free, and in May, I ordered 6 samples of assorted niche fragrances and didn’t like any of them.
So now I feel like I have a license to spend, to make up for all the months without new scents!
That’s how it works!
4 for me this quarter.
30ml Yohji Yamamoto pour homme (birthday gift to myself)
50ml Dior pour homme. eBay bargain, along with the sport version (100ml). I really like this one, I know it’s not widely liked.
30 ml atelier cologne, sous le tout de Paris, bargain as they were offering free shipping in August. It was also an anniversary gift for the wife, along with their sample collection. The one I bought was the only one worth a full bottle.
About £200 pounds for me.
Happy belated birthday…nice picks.
this prompted me to go back and calculate my perfume expenses… Thing is I count them by months, not quarters, so every salary check is like a new beginning. And as long as I’m not beggaring myself, I refuse to feel guilt. But anyway. I bought a full bottle of Amouage Ubar, LesNez Manoumalia, Nicolai New York and Odalisque. Decants of MDCI’s Enlevement au Serail and Invasions Barbares. Split a bottle of old Eau Savage, so that’s basically saving money right there! Samples of all Parfums DelRae – I wasn’t at all familiar with this house so I’m waiting to check them out. Oh, and a full bottle of Vero Profumo Mito. The Amouage was by far the worst at £250, but it’s so strong and potent, basically one spritz lasts a week, especially if any of it lands on the clothes. Mito on the other hand will run out very soon I suspect, but I just can’t help myself and respray every hour.
Anyway I’m not even nearly done purchasing. I need a new iris perfume for autumn…. Atelier Cologne, I’m looking at you, and big hopes for DelRae Mythique. What are your thoughts on Mythique, if anybody has it or has tried it?
I think Angela’s review is on here somewhere and it’s become a favorite of hers. I thought it was really lovely, but so close to the skin that I didn’t feel justified in buying any. (But then, I’m not much of an iris fan anyway.)
Argh, three bottles for me this quarter plus a couple of small decants, totaling $267:
Another backup 100ml bottle of PdN Le Temps d’une Fete, because it is going into “limited distribution,” which may or may not mean it disappears when stocks are low (GAH I AM DISTRAUGHT).
A backup 30ml bottle of PdN Vanille Tonka, because it too is now “limited.”
A 50ml bottle of what was SUPPOSED to be Chanel No. 19 edp, from the Duty Free in Rome, when my daughter went on her trip to Europe this summer. She accidentally bought No. 19 Poudre instead, so I will need to sell that one (anybody want it? BNIB.) and replace it with No. 19 edp. I don’t want to tell her she messed up, because it’s not like she can just take it back…
5ml decant of Nina Ricci Fille d’Eve parfum, plus a deluxe 2ml sample of Liquid Dreams from April Aromatics.
Backup bottles of must-haves really can’t be avoided!
I have stopped counting! Threw caution to the winds lol I have made a list from what I can recall.

Yes, it sounds like you may be coming down with Prudence, lol. Tale two Panado and report back in the morning.
Extra money has been scarce this year and I only bought two this past quarter. Neither was a really high-end (cost-wise) purchase:
EL Modern Muse and Ineke Poet’s Jasmine. I didn’t even buy any samples this past quarter.
I’m very tempted by Modern Muse – and the gift sets will start arriving in the shops soon, I’m sure – but tell myself that I should just pick up a mini or something once they start to drift on to eBay, as invariably they will. Or by from the broken up gift sets after Xmas. That too is inevitable.
I have been busy this quarter and bought three bottles, A bottle of Lalique Amethyst , birthday present for my niece and two evilbay scores, a vintage bottle of Chantilly, it smells just like I remember and a
vintage bottle of Jean Maria Farine Vielle, nice but not what I thought it would be, and I forget a bottle of 4711 that I bought at the Perfume House in Portland after listening to Alyssa’s talk. Other than that, it was about 3 bunches of samples and a few minis, Lalique Encre Noire and an Amethyst mini, a mini of L de Lolita and two decants, Seville A l’Aube and vintage Emeraude. Thanks Dagmar Thatcher.
I have no idea how much I spent and I am happy not to know.
A lot of temptations have passed under my nose but I only succumbed to an instant and very unexpected fling with Kenzo Amour I<3U. A lovely summery scent soooo unlike anything else I wear. And it was taxfree :).
Before going on holiday in July I grabbed a bottle of Hermes’ Eau d’Orange Verte. Then there was Voile d’Ambre from Yves Rocher but it actually came as a gift with an online order from their shop. It’s a beautiful scent, really well-made as for such an affordable price. I’m gonna share it with my girfriend in the upcoming winter season. My last purchase arrived on Monday and it was Fendi’s Fan di Fendi pour Homme, a 50ml pretty bottle. Oh, and then there were two minis grabbed on the way – one with Thierry Mugler’s Amen, the other with Tumulte pour Homme from Christain Lacroix.
I bought, not wisely, but too well. In July I ordered bottles of Sa Majeste La Rose and Parfum Sacre, and a few weeks I bought Heure Exquise and a partial bottle of Gucci Accenti on eBay. Total damage: $180.
1 bottle 50 ml Tokyo Milk Dark Excess $36
I love this one, Nancy, good choice!
After last quarter with no purchases at all, I more than made up for it this quarter. A trip to France was planned, and I warmed up for perfume shopping by purchasing Odalisque, Cristalle Eau Verte, and the Ann Gerard coffret before ever getting on the plane. While in France I bought a bell jar of Boxeuses, La Fille de Berlin (both planned), and Acqua di Parma Colonia, Guerlain Pamplelune, and Atelier Cologne Ambre Nue (all unplanned). That makes a total of 8. Yikes.
