Aquolina Black Sugar ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 September 2013 16 Comments

Aquolina Black Sugar

Aquolina will launch Black Sugar, the latest in the brand's series of variations on their popular 2003 Pink Sugar fragrance, in October:

In Black Sugar, the sweetness of Pink Sugar meets Oud, a unique and evocative essence hailing from the Middle East. In this totally new and unexpected fragrance, the distinctive features of Pink Sugar – sweetness, persistence and preciousness – are enhanced by a twist of Oud. The composition is warmed up by the classic timeless notes of Sandalwood, Incense, Myrrh and Leather, creating a unique oriental, gourmand and balmy note in a sophisticated black bottle with refined golden details.

Additional notes include vanilla and raspberry.

Aquolina Black Sugar will be available in 100 ml.

    Pink Sugar meets Oud……Eeek!
I like sandalwood, incense myrrh and leather – if only they stoppped there before adding vanilla and raspberry. I get this image of a ice cream sundae offered by a large hand in black leather glove. Quite disturbing…

It might be my favorite line from a fragrance description for 2013.

Ok, I know oud is EVERYWHERE, but I really wasn’t expecting this one! Haha! Can’t wait for BS Oud Fantasy, or DKNY Be Delicious Oud! ; )

Hey, it’s already in fragrances from Jovan & The Body Shop. I think you can expect it anywhere and everywhere!

You know, they’ve done a good job on some of their scents…I wouldn’t mind trying it. Probably too sweet for me, but might be fun, who knows.

Oh, Chocolovers – you are mourned. At least by me.

I only liked Chocolovers, until they bring that back, I am just not interested in this line. Yes, I am bitter! LOL.

Well, yes, this was “unexpected!” Ack.
But I do love that bottle. Maybe I’ll be able to pick it up at a tag sale some day. :)

You never know! I don’t know how widely they’re distributing some of their newer scents though.

What a hilarious concept! I actually love Pink Sugar for occasional wear (when I want to smell like crème brûlée), but I cannot see how the addition of oud would improve it.

I really love all that deep sophisticated-myrrh-and-leather-speak in a black and gold bottle followed by – in a Mickey Mouse voice – ‘additional notes include raspberry and vanilla’!

Imagining roasting and burning marshmallow on a stick of Oud! Sounds like something that requires a cooler time of year to handle but very tempting none the less.
Gold sugar was nowhere as delicious nor yummy coconutty like I anticipated. Hope this one has some intensity!

Raspberry…and leather? Vanilla and raspberry, I get. Incense and leather, I get (and? yum!) But all of those together…No. Oh, please, no.
