My heart skipped a beat! (I meant to write that)

I admit I am not enthralled with the idea of Joy with white musk, but hey, you never know. I’ll certainly try it if I see it.

You took the words out of my mouth…not too thrilled with either peach or white musk. The other notes sound good, though.

I know that Thomas Fontaine, the Patou perfumer, gave a talk at Harrods earlier this month about how perfume preferences have changed since the 30s, so I would expect this to be a very “modern” take on Joy. Since my preferences were neatly covered by the original, hey.

I still have a bottle of the original–as well as 1,000–and they both still smell beautiful!

    Is nothing sacred?

I will probably try it, but, for me, Joy is perfection.

It is, but Patou has not kept interest in it alive in the same way as say, Guerlain has with Shalimar. I would guess they need something to reinvigorate the brand.

You’re right. Maybe this new one will draw interest to the classics and things might improve as JP is no longer owned by Procter & Gamble. Joy and 1000 are two of my staples.

Well, now that the classic Chanels and Guerlains have been flankerized, I suppose nothing *is* sacred.

At least they have been conservative with No. 5 — so far.

I love Joy also. I am very curious about the new fragrance. It would be so nice to see people sampling the new one, and then picking up Joy and sniffing it and loving it.

I’ve never tried 1000. I looked up the notes on the Jean Patou website, and this looks like a wonderful fragrance also.

I think 1000 is just amazing – I love both, but 1000 has “been around the block” a few more times. I have described Joy as a very wealthy, beautiful, and elegant woman and 1000 as a very wealthy, beautiful and elegant woman with a past.

I know I tried 1000 some time ago, but it did not make a big impression on me. Joy, I adore.

Like others, I’m appalled at the addition of white musk, which I loathe with a passion. But I did laugh when I read “flanker to 1930’s Joy”. Usually it is “flanker to last spring’s flanker to the flanker to….”. You know, you write the copy!

It’s true, it’s just funny! And Joy Forever kind of made me smirk too — not the best name ever. But would love to see Patou prosper again, so will wish them luck.

Sounds Awesome indeed, But little can compare to 1000 Or Sublime… Which is By FAR my Fave Patou Scent!

My favorite Patou fragrance is Divine Folie. I have one almost full bottle of the EDT left, and it gives me such pleasure to wear it.
