Should be interesting. This has been one fragrance where the flankers have improved on the original!

I really like what they’ve done with the different concentrations (not really flankers, so far) — and it’s a lovely fragrance in any case.

Yes, I suppose they’re really concentrations, not flankers! But I think both of the flankers so far (EDT and Extrait) improved on the original EDP.

Oh go away already Baiser Vole. Everyone knows you’re laundry musk.

LOL! I do love it though, Lys. It doesn’t smell like any laundry detergent I use 🙂

I have been wanting a Lily fragrance that works on me. Every time it’s like having someone rub those annoyingly staining pollen onto me instead of a beautiful flower “blossom” on my skin. No, not just Baiser Vole and your various oh-I-want-you-but-cannot-have versions, you too Lys Soleia, I am looking right at you.
But perhaps this time…this bourbon vanilla might just be…(hope I don’t jinx it! :P)

Have you tried Le Labo Lys 41 or SL Un Lys? I second Vanille Galante as well.

Funny how VG had escaped my mind! I sampled it quite a while ago. Looks like its time to go back for a retrial!

I didn’t care for Vole, don’t have high hopes for a variation.

    Hi – first post here..
So enjoy reading this blog and the comments – I’ve learned a ton!
So, I love lily and vanilla, especially Hermes’ Vanille Galante, but its so pricey… any other recommendations for something similar that won’t put me in debt? I don’t think this new scent by Cartier will even come close to VG, but I can dream as it definitely is a more affordable option.
    Anyway, thanks!

Hi and welcome! Glad you are liking the blog. Sorry to say I can’t think of a cheap dupe for VG, but you could try scrolling through the lily tag to see what else you can find:

        Thanks for the rec!

I was just circling back to this post as I got to try the new Baiser Vole today (was hoping NST had reviewed it :)) and have to say on first sniff it is not for me. Way too heavy on the vanilla. I’ll give it a bunch of wears (Saks actually gave me a sample – shocker!), but I don’t have high hopes for falling in love with this one.

Off to seek out Lys Soleila!

It would be so nice if someone here at NST would update the Baiser Vole review to include the new Essence along with all the other variations! I very much like the permutations I have tried so far (just EDP and EDT) and would like to buy a full bottle of something but am not sure which one to choose.

It’s possible, but we’ve already reviewed 3 concentrations of it, which is way more than we usually do.

Well, maybe once you have tried the Essence you could just mention in the comments how it compares to the other 3 versions and which one you like best. I’m probably not the only one who would be interested in hearing your opinion!

I will see if I can do that, if I can find someplace that has all the testers out.
