L’Occitane au Bresil Jenipapo & Mandacaru ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 4 April 2013 12 Comments

L'Occitane Jenipapo

L'Occitane will introduce two new fragrance lines, Jenipapo and Mandacaru, as the initial offerings for a new L’Occitane au Brésil range. The products are based on inspired by Brazilian natural materials and will be produced wholly in Brasil; they will be introduced there in May and not marketed elsewhere until 2014. L'Occitane currently has about 90 stores in the country.

Jenipapo (shown above) ~ based on inspired by the flowering tree and fruit, the line includes bath & body products and an Eau de Cologne in 100 and 300 ml. [The notes feature watermelon, bergamot, citrus fruit cocktail, jenipapo, jasmine flower, mango, piña colada, lily, sandalwood, milk and vanilla.]

Mandacaru (shown below) ~ based on inspired by the night blooming cactus (Cereus jamacaru?), and also in 100 and 300 ml Eau de Cologne and matching bath & body products. [The notes feature pink pepper, peach, orange, green grape, jasmine, rose, mimosa, violet, lavender, tonka bean, cinnamon, cloves, warm musk, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, guaiac wood and vanilla.]

I will update with more detailed scent descriptions when I can.

R: Jenipapo won’t make it thru IFRA! HA! From the Wiki piece — The juice of the immature fruit is clear, but induces a chemical reaction on the human skin resulting in a tattoo-like dark blue. Used by rainforest natives as body-painting color.

So we know this is artificially scented, huh? I ‘d still like to smell them…more interesting than most L’Occitanes of recent vintage….

LOL — IFRA probably hasn’t had a chance to test jenipapo yet!

But also you inspired me to reword the above — never meant to imply that L’Occitane said they were using any particular natural materials, although would be surprised if either product was 100% synthetic.

I’ve seen a lot of Brazilian lines lately…seems to be the trend.

These sound interesting, but I don’t like that Mandacaru packaging at all!

What? Stickery/prickly cacti don’t scream body care to you? LOL It is sort of weird isn’t it. I do like the smell of night blooming cactus so I will look forward to sniffing but yeah the package is strange.

Hmmm, can’t decide. I like the drawing & the colors, admit it doesn’t scream “fragrance” to me.

Gosh – could this mean the end of peony diluted rose solution for L’Occitaine? Say it aint so!
