If anyone is interested, Denyse was interviewed this morning on CBC Radio’s The Current about the impact of IFRA , cultural approaches to perfume and some history of perfumery.
The piece (24 mins) starts about 45 seconds in (after a promo about another story):

Lovely, thanks so much!
I heard it too Lindaloo. I don’t know about you, but it really gave my day a lift to start it hearing someone speak sensibly as well as passionately about fragrance, particularly her obvious disdain for the IFRA regulations. Ahhhh, spring must be here because I just got a breath of fresh air!! Must look into the book.
Oh yes, it was a definite lift. I was especially pleased to hear Anna Maria Tremonti reveal that she had a “little bottle” (a decant?/press sample?) of Seville a l’Aube with her and she had applied some at the beginning of the interview. She sounded so delighted as Denyse explained the notes and she could find them and see the story the scent told!
I really do have to at least sample the scent.
I also have to ask Denyse on her blog why the cover of the Canadian edition of The Perfume Lover has such a different cover from the rather similar to each other UK and US editions. It appears we need a perfume-ad style cover with a lovely young woman and a bounty of flowers. ??
