Mona di Orio Eau Absolue ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 6 March 2013 9 Comments

Mona di Orio Eau Absolue

Niche line Mona di Orio will launch Eau Absolue in April.

EAU ABSOLUE is a memoir steeped in Mona di Orio’s love for the Mediterranean. Composed in her signature olfactory chiaroscuro construction, the scent envelopes in joyous warmth.

Eau Absolue effervesces like a summer breeze carrying a zestful bouquet of bergamot, mandarin, clementine and Petitgrain. These bright, convivial citruses splash against the epicurean spice of pink peppercorn.

The scent becomes earthy and softly floral, with whispers of geranium, dry vetiver and balsamic St Thomas Bay Leaf. The nocturnal shade intensifies, arching ever deeper, until plunging directly into a caress of cistus labdanum, the ambry smell of the Mediterranean, and sensual musk, an elegant and intoxicating denouement.

Mona di Orio Eau Absolue will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Just when I thought I want something citrusy… Joy 🙂 This sounds delightful as well.

Mona di Orio passed away (somewhat) recently I thought…
Who then is the actual perfumier here?

I do not know if Mona di Orio was a technical perfumer or not, or if she worked with someone at one of the big houses. But betting they will say this is one from her archives, as was the case with the last one.

Seems like they are admitting that it is a new creation:

‘Composed in her signature olfactory chiaroscuro construction’

but claiming it to have the same DNA as her own works. Maybe if I smell it I will be able to verify whether it truly does have that – ahem – ‘chiaroscuro construction’. lol

Yes, they’ve worded it very carefully.

If the amber is low-impact, then I have to smell this!

It doesn’t sound bad at all – but that copy is a little…heated, no?
