The advert for Jour d'Hermès. Some brief nudity — possibly NSFW.
Below the jump, just for fun, three (adorable) Vive Le Sport commercials, also from Hermès: croquet, leapfrog, no sport. You can find a fourth (ping pong) here.

Oh they do things well don’t they? Loved the ‘No sport’.
The music for the Jour d’Hermes seems to be an arrangement of Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’, from Porgy and Bess. Nice. The ad does seem to give a visual sense of what the fragrance is like.
Ashamed to say I did not even notice the Summertime, so it is. Maybe a little more sultry than the perfume!
And yes, gosh, Hermes knows how to do ads for shoes & ties without making it dull or even overly ad-like, don’t they?
This makes me want to try Jour d’Hermes again. I didn’t think of it as a “summertime” frag
But it could definitely work on a sultry day. I love Porgy & Bess. I need to get a quality copy of it in iTunes. I had it on a cassette (old me!) 🙂
Now about the bottle…. I usually love minimalism and pure lines. But the bottle and typography they used for this one is almost too severe for me. Truly… When I saw the bottle for the first time I thought “this is what Mrs. Rottenmeier would wear. (Heidi character, a strict german housekeeper) It was actually bothering me a little after the wonderful packaging for, say, eau des merveilles, Kelly Caleche (genius, feminine and very “now”) and the quiet elegance of the hermessence line. The ad gives this a soul IMHO.
I liked everything about the bottle except the gold on the top of the cap, but you’re right that it isn’t as whimsical as some of their others, Merveilles especially.
There’s alwasy lots of… consistency in Hermes lines, and obviously having Ellena as in house perfumer helps a lot. And yes, the aestethic is always faultless, really on a league of their own. I tried Jour, and find it very “luminous” if it makes sense. Easily the best new release of 2012.
I really quite like this ad… I also think they are really clever with the music… there were some accords in there which are also found in the music for the Voyage d’Hermes ad and they trigger something in me. Mostly buy-lust. 🙂
