As a result of delays caused by Hurricane Sandy, the Museum of Arts and Design will postpone the opening for its upcoming exhibition, The Art of Scent 1889-2012. Originally slated to open on Tuesday, November 13th, the exhibition will now open on Tuesday, November 20th.
The first museum exhibition to examine perfume as an art form in its own right, The Art of Scent will lead visitors through an olfactory experience that showcases the artistry inherent to creating a fragrance. In an installation designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the exhibition will explore major stylistic developments in the evolution and design of fragrance and feature such works as Jicky by Aimé Guerlain, Chanel N° 5 by Ernest Beaux, and Pleasures by Annie Buzantian, among others.

Oh darn. I had included this in my schedule for next week
Sorry!
We were supposed to go to NYC, see 2 shows (The Heiress!) and see this exhibit. The storm has delayed the trip; I hope we aren’t stuck with the Broadway tickets!. As disappointed as I am, I am much more sad for those who are dealing with the effects on a daily basis…
Oh, I hope so too!
Yes, I realize my response sounded trivial. However, I have also been dealing with the storm and have been overworking for months on end and am looking forward to a one day “vacation” in NY.
If the theatre is unwilling to exchange the tickets, there are plenty of on line ticket brokerages which you can try to sell them on.
Thanks for the info. I have a ticket for the lecture on Design and Structure in Olfactory Art and curiously, the website still has it listed as being on for November 15th! There are some other interesting lectures which I may end up attending as well — there’s one on the development of V&R Spicebomb, one of my favorite scents .
Do not know if they postponed the talk as well — that might have been harder to do, so probably worth checking w/ the museum.
