Jacomo Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 16 October 2012 24 Comments

Jacomo Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime

Jacomo has introduced Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime, a new variation on their 1978 Silences fragrance:

New fragrance, new design, new visual, Jacomo reinvents its myth. Not quite the same, but not quite different…

The sheer elegance of beautiful floral notes: Bulgarian Rose, Iris & Narcissus.

A sublime harmony cast into a green, transparent and modern dimension topped with Galbanum & Blackcurrant.

A signature fragrance, so feminine, set on a woody base note with musk and hints of Sandalwood & Vetiver.

Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime is a green floral developed by perfumer Serge Majoullier; additional notes include lily of the valley.

Jacomo Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime is available in 50 and 100 ml.

I tried this at Sniffapalooza this weekend. Chypres are not my specialty, so no one should take my word on this or anything, but while this was somewhat light, it did strike me as a proper chypre.

They seem to be categorizing it as a green floral, but they do also use the term chypre in the press release. So don’t know what it is supposed to be.

Looks like Presence D’une Femme and Nu had a love child …

But “Sublime” … is this the next “noir”

    Hmm … Silences Noires?

    Or Silences de Minuit?

There really should be a fragrance called Awkward Silences.

LOL – I’m actually very fond of Guerlain Idylle Eau Sublime!

I am still intrigued by this, although initially I was REALLY TORQUED that Jacomo was keeping the name while updating the scent. Adding “edp Sublime” to the name has mollified my indignance, especially since a couple of people (including Chaya Ruchama) have mentioned that it’s pretty good.

    NOW, to find a sample…

And I give props to companies that make it clear it’s a new scent instead of passing it off as the old. Better than nothing.

Do you know where it’s being sold in the US? (if not, no biggie – I’ll ask Ari)

Politely butting in: I was at Sniffa this past weekend, and Bendel’s is where we saw Silences (and where Ida / Chaya bought hers).

I am so tired of chypres with attenuated oakmoss, so I just add some oakmoss absolute to Alba Organics very emollient unscented body lotion to add a decent oakmoss note to pseudo-chypres. It costs fifteen bucks tops.
