Odin 09 Posala ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2012 14 Comments

Odin 09 Posala

New York-based clothing retailer Odin New York has launched 09 Posala, a new fragrance.

Through the rich heritage of the South comes a scent that’s defined in blooming meadows, seaside gardens and thriving orchards. Posala emerges with budding pear flower, velvety peach and honeyed orange flower. Smoky bourbon and star jasmine surface in a blend of Perique tobacco, resinous amber and purple iris for a floral bouquet that embodies a delicate nature.

Distinctly floral from top to bottom, Posala is designed to attract perfume enthusiasts that love big fragrances wrapped in a bit of softness. Peach, bourbon and tobacco remind us of southern roots while infusing unexpected character to a more traditional bouquet of floral notes. Posala stems from Native American meaning “farewell to spring flowers,” suggesting its transitional use from day to evening occasions.

Odin 09 Posala is available now at Barneys, 100 ml Eau de Parfum for $165.

It does. No Barneys near me so probably won’t get to smell this one.

Bourbon and tobacco? Yes, please! A bit leery of the peach but definitely will sniff.

I will try to sniff, but for now this one is exclusive to Barneys. Hope other stores will get it eventually.

This sounds right up my alley, I think. The nearest Barneys to me are in Austin and Dallas.. I’ve been wanting to make a visit back to Austin, so this just sounds like an excuse for a trip. And if I don’t make a trip, Kuhl-Linscomb carries the Odin line here, so maybe they’ll get it eventually. fingers crossed.

There isn’t *real* Barney’s in Austin. It’s Barney’s Co-Op. And they don’t really have the makeup and fragrance collections there. Unless I’m crazy mistaken??? I live across the street from there and never go in because I didn’t believe they had fragrance (that I could see from looking into the small-ish store). If I’m wrong, please let me know…

Also, apparently, the Dallas Barney’s is closing.

Robin, why don’t you ask Kelly at Miomia in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a sample? I think she is friends with the perfumer(s) of the Odin fragrance line. I have a feeling she can get her hands on Odin 9, perhaps she already has it. I purchased Odin 7 from Kelly at her lovely store and I was shocked at how much I ended up loving it. I am super a big fan of darker scents and I was afraid of the citrus opening in Odin 7. No worries there. The wood steals the show within minutes. I sniffed their entire line and they are all very well done. Not all my cup of tea, but all very well done.

Gotta be honest, it’s very rare that I chase a scent down like that these days — I announce between 2-4 fragrances most days, and so another bus will be along momentarily if you know what I mean. Agree the Odin line is really well done though.

Well, you do a great job bringing new releases to our attention. I am so glad that their is a blog like NST out there for us to depend on for new release news and entertaining and honest perfume/product review information. If I can get over to Miomia this weekend I will see if Kelly has this. If so, I will comment next week.

I am liking this one quite a bit, wearing it today, in fact. Odin is a funny brand, I am always a bit perplexed by them. They look so male, but aren’t, really.
