Kiehl’s Aromatic Blends collection ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 4 July 2012 8 Comments

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends

Kiehl's has launched the Aromatic Blends collection, with four new fragrances: Fig Leaf & Sage, Vanilla & Cedarwood, Orange Flower & Lychee and Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit.

Introducing an enticing range of fragrances highlighting exotic ingredients from around the globe. Crafted with fewer ingredients than traditional fragrances, these unique scents allow the pure notes shine through naturally.

Fig Leaf & Sage ~ "A stimulating fusion of Fig Leaf and Sage with underlying hints of bergamot, citron and thyme. The notes of fig conjure up images of the south of France with its lush countryside, where an unusually distinctive fig essence renowned for its uniquely fresh green, crisp aroma is found. This fig aroma was blended with the essence of herbaceous sage - an evergreen herb with a sweet, nutty scent, evocative of the northern Mediterranean coast."

Vanilla & Cedarwood ~  "A seductive fusion of Ugandan Vanilla and Cedarwood, heightened with a hint of iris, which gives way to rich amber. The creamy vanilla in our blend owes its unique aromatic character to the exotic vanilla orchid grown on small, sustainable farms in Uganda. This warm and sensual aroma was fused with smoky Cedarwood to add a complex, balsamic character - reminiscent of tobacco farms in the southern United States."

Orange Flower & Lychee ~ "An exotic fusion of Orange Flower and Lychee sweetened with a touch of honey and rounded out by Moroccan Rose. Our Orange Flower extract is derived from the Bitter Orange tree - a tree known for producing flowers with an especially distinctive orange scent. This unique scent was combined with a fruity-floral infusion of Lychee, found in the subtropical forests of Southeast Asia."

Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit ~ featuring blossoms from the Japanese nashi pear tree; I will update with the official description when I can. Update: "A surprising blend of Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit, accented by ginger and rounded out with soothing notes of soy milk and white musk.  This harmonious aroma evokes imagery of the Kyoto Gardens in Japan - a peaceful place where dewy, white flowers of this pear often flourish.  This fresh, floral aroma was mixed with the Brazilian-born Pink Grapefruit, which heightens the sensory experience with a rich sweet scent, imbued with hints of tropical Mandarin Orange."

The Kiehl's Aromatic Blends fragrances are available in 30 and 100 ($75)  ml, concentration unknown, and in matching body products.

Oh goodie. I am going to ask my Nordie’s SA to make me some samples. The Anniversary Sale is coming up and she is mtivated to sell – she’s not pushy and is very generous with samples.

I’ll try anything purporting to be of fig. I’m weak that way.

I don’t generally go out of my way to sniff vanilla perfumes, but Vanilla & Cedarwood sounds appealing. And it’s not like I won’t already be at the Kiehl’s counter trying the fig one.

Having trouble imagining fig and sage – sage is instant Thanksgiving turkey dressing to me. Very curious to sniff it, though.

These are beautifully written descriptions! Lucid, seemingly honest (fig ‘aroma’ mixed with sage essence, which I’m taking to mean a fig accord mixed with a sage essential oil….since all fig notes are synthetics it’s nice to not be hit over the head with a ‘natural’ stance). Well done kiehls.
