Calvin Klein Encounter ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 June 2012 23 Comments

Calvin Klein Encounter fragrance advert

Calvin Klein will launch Encounter Calvin Klein in August. The new fragrance for men will be fronted by actor Alexander Skarsgård. Per a Coty representative, the scent is...

...a new interpretation of the contemporary, confident man. Alexander Skarsgård perfectly reflects the Encounter attitude — modern, stylish and unapologetically masculine.

Encounter was developed by perfumers Honorine Blanc and Pierre Negrin; notes include mandarin, cardamom, rum, pepper, jasmine, patchouli, cognac, agarwood, atlas cedarwood and musk.

Calvin Klein Encounter will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products.

You obviously know his work as an actor better than I do 🙂

Waaaaaaaay gorgeous! But I wish they had him with the long blonde hair and that risque viking attitude…

With rum AND cognac, apparently the “unapologetically masculine” man is also a drunk.

Right, it should have reek of blood, much more authentic.

The notes made me imagine a flacon much closer to what John Varvatos developed for “Vintage”

I love the JV bottle. This one does look a little dull, but it’s not a great shot of it.

I guess the bottle is a little bit based on a Bleu de Chanel bottle, don’t you think. I’ve never been fond of CK fragrances, I wonder if this one will change my attitude a little

It’s not my favorite brand…haven’t owned one since CK One.

My own feelings towards CK have been rather polarized – love Ck One, Ck Be, Obsession, Obsession Night, Contradiction (oh yes! :-))and Truth. Dislike Escape and all euphorias. In2U I just don’t get.

The flacon is suitably vampyric, reminds me of a tomb … or an exceedingly stylish box of condoms for the ultimate seducer – if such a thing exists. After all now it’s no longer elegant to smoke, what would men do with all those elegant cigar holders. 😉

Yeah I haven’t LOVED a men’s scent from CK since Obsession. This one sounds really good to me! Here’s hoping CK redeems himself with this one. Rum, jasmine, and cognac oh my! : )

The tag line for this should be “With a vampire, nothing is let to chance…. Encounter”.

Contradiction And Escape are Calvin’s Masterpieces if you ask me… I Don’t know why in HEAVEN they stopped producing Contradiction!?!?! Obsession, Eternity and CkOne are all BRILLIANT but Euphoria… Meh like it not loving it… Beauty… was actually Rather good once you got to know her better… all those flanker Crapolas are worthless if you ask me! and Truth… BLECH the women’s version is AWFUL the men’s only marginally less so!

This on the other hand sounds YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!!!!! Might be a Unsniffed Buy! Waiting Eagerly!

A drunk encounter doesn’t sound appealing. Like your husband was out all night drinking, then comes home and wants ‘something special’. Hope it’s not too much on that booze but sounds like it might be! Rum is a nice note though, I like it.

Oh no, I had Eric all decked out in Avignon, Jaisalamer, or Encense et Lavande, Fumerie Turque or even Cuir Mauresque.
What a let down, to find him in the poor man’s Frapin 1270.

To me the bottle looks like any of the Dior Homme family with a diamond sticker and a slightly asymmetrical looking cap.
Took 5 minutes to draw it and send to manufacturing !!

Love Alex but that’s a strange shot of him in the visual. He looks a little constipated.
