Amouage Beloved ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 April 2012 22 Comments

Amouage Beloved

Amouage will launch Beloved, a new fragrance for women, this month.

...Beloved engages the elegance and complexity of the modern woman: strong, empowered, animated, in control.

The aromatic top notes are dominated by the rose and the jasmine, with a blend of spicy white flowers in the heart. The leather and vanilla warm base is underlined with rich woods, resin and animalic notes, increasing the intensity of the composition.

Additional notes include lavender, clary sage, clove, chamomile, cardamom, ylang ylang, violet, everlasting, cistus, benzoin, olibanum, patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, castoreum, civet, musk, maltol and amber.

Amouage Beloved will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum. It will be sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods, Tsum and Amouage boutiques.

(via press release)

Is it me or does this look (and sound with its note of maltol)……..a bit pink for Amouage?

It does. But Amouage no longer has (to me, anyway) a consistent brand signature anyway. Not complaining, mind you — few brands do, and I guess there is something to be said for having something to suit everybody, right? There’s a review at Non-Blonde:

This sounds really interesting. My only problem is, that it is so damn expensive. But I assume, that’s what they want it to be.

I would assume it will be spendy, yes!

With so many notes, I am finding it difficult to imagine what this is going to smell like.

I thought the description that they provided was pretty good…maybe read that and ignore the notes?

Yes, then I think I might enjoy it. I’m all for the feeling of empowerment.

Rose, jasmine, leather, vanilla, woods… a pink Amouage. Hmmm.

I think my wallet just ran off to hide, even though I’m just contemplating a sample at the moment.

This does sound intriguing, and for once I like the ad copy. A sample is definitely in my future. A whole bottle? That depends on that lottery ticket I just bought….

This sounds a little soft for me, but I’m a sucker for the packaging.

I guess most houses, including Amouage, have to launch 1-3 scents a year (I’m counting the Opera/Opuses) to be able to compete, eh? I’m feeling whiplashed/market-lashed.

Oh, dear…Gaia’s review kind of swayed me into temptation. It does sound intriguing. Luckily I’m pretty much in that stage where I’ll smell something new that comes my way, but I’m not going to seek things out.

I was just about to spring for Opus XI, maybe III, now what to do. The Opus’es are going to be loves more than my gold or lyric. I just know it.

      I’m sorry, I don’t know. I don’t think it’s even on the market yet.

love the idea of spicy white flowers! maybe this will smell like my favorite flower, the stephanotis. i will sample for sure.

it’s sad about the absolutely hideous amouage bottles. such cheap looking packaging for such expensive scents. (aside from the library collection which i don’t mind.)
