Ferrari Essence Oud ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 March 2012 18 Comments

Ferrari Essence Oud

Ferrari has launched Ferrari Essence Oud, a new fragrance for men:

Oud, or Agarwood. From the heartwood of this rare and prestigious tree comes the warm vibrant fragrance that is Ferrari Essence Oud, the new perfume for men. Deep, low, powerful, like the engine sound of a Ferrari car. Only for men with an instinctive feeling for the Prancing Horse.

Additional notes include olibanum, cumin, saffron, elemi, labdanum and leather.

Ferrari Essence Oud is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

+1. Why don’t we start taking bets on what the Next Big Thing will be?! Why is oud so prevalent? I spoke to one niche perfumer recently who said they believe that it’s largely thanks to the demand of very wealthy Arabic customers – they have a LOT of money to spend and they want oud, so they get it in spades. Is that really all it is???

Two things: newer, cheaper synthetic ouds, and demand in the Middle East.

This must be for the Middle Eastern fan male fan base. Wasn’t it Francis K who said he was asked to do his new oud scent for that market?

Which reminds me – I wonder if anyone here has been able to try that EL regional edition men’s Oud scent?

Im not necessarily sick of Oud yet, just sick of people trying to charge the price of something made with natural oud, when they actually used synthetic oud.
I actually want to delve into exploring with some Oud concentrated perfume oils from companies like Arabian Oud and Ajmal, but havent looked into wear to get samples.

Oh my. I read the title for this post and the phrase ‘jumping the shark’ came to mind. ;) Who knows? It might be a perfectly lovely fragrance, but I think kaos.geo hit the oud-scented nail squarely on the head.

Between this and the Van Cleef & Arpels Precious Oud, I think it can be officially and safely stated that oud is indeed dead ;) And I was so looking forwad to a VS or BBW oud fragrance, too, just to see a sugary oud kill the trend….

Yes oud now is toomuch..but I have to admit I Still love my bottle of SHAMS OUD by MEMO..and anyway though ferrari is absolutely not my cup of tea I’d like to give this a sniff..the combination seems very nice since there’s elemi on it, something that I adore..but my real dream would be to finally find a stronger version of FAREB by HUITIEME ART dearRobyn do you think my dream will come true?…and p.s a question..are you not tired of bergamot being everywhere?…kisses and always thank you for this wonderful website

Bergamot does not generally take over a composition, nor is it in every 5th fragrance name, so no!

And thanks for the kind words :-)
