Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Dreaming in Portofino

Dolce & Gabbana have launched Light Blue Dreaming in Portofino and Light Blue Living Stromboli Pour Homme:

Redolent of the Mediterranean, and conjuring up idle days spent relaxing on a summer voyage, the new Light Blue fragrances burst with an absolute feeling of Summer. Drawing upon elements of each stunning location, the scents arouse a feeling of escapism and true sensorial delight taking you back to moments of unforgettable intimacy and romance.

Light Blue Dreaming in Portofino (shown) ~ A flanker to 2001's Light Blue. "Top notes of sun-kissed Litchi and musky Ambrette Seed sensuously meld into rich floral tones of creamy Iris and heady Osmanthus. Resinous Amber and woody Patchouli linger, leaving behind a trace of delicate velvet aroma, imprinting an intoxicating memory of golden moments spent in timeless contemplation." In 25 or 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

Light Blue Living Stromboli Pour Homme ~ A flanker to 2007's Light Blue Pour Homme. "Fusing freshness and sensuality, this innovative aquatic mineral eau de toilette is classified as 'Woody Water'. Pure, powerful and intensely masculine, refreshing top notes of Citrus and Pink Pepper segue into crisp aquatic tones heightened by the clarity of Geranium. Smoky Amber with woody Patchouli and mossy Vetyver provide lasting resonance." In 40 or 75 ml Eau de Toilette.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Dreaming in Portofino and Light Blue Living Stromboli Pour Homme can be found now at Ulta.

I, for one, cannot imagine a flanker to the worst masculine I’ve ever had the misfortune of smelling. Stinks of pure rubbing alcohol and a single, nose-singeing aquatic accord. Truly and utterly vile. In my humble opinion. 🙂

Maybe it’s better in Stromboli 😉

I dont think many people know that a place called Stromboli exists. They will just think of a pizza dough pocket stuffed with meat and cheese and sauce, and get hungry like i am right now. i would be loath to try this new version due to that name and the horrible memories of the original, which i agree with the above reader, is utter rubbish.

That’s exactly what I thought of when I saw the name.

Me too, and the idea of an anthropomorphic stromboli spritzing on its namesake fragrance was good for a chuckle. Still, you have to wonder how this kind of thing makes it past any reasonably competent marketing department.

It’s a problem in the US…Living Stromboli doesn’t not sound appealing.

Ahem … is this the right Light Blue? The main notes were fresh lemon and sparkling Granny Smith apple. No sign of them in the listy of notes, and they were definitely there in the original.

I should know, I bathed in it 😀

Flankers don’t always have the notes of the original, and of course they don’t always list all the notes anyway. So not a problem!

I looked forward to smelling this one. It sounds alot better to me-I detest the regular one.

I am not a fan of any of the Light Blues, so far.

Most annoying names. Don’t compute. Are the dreams light blue? Or is Light Blue dreaming? What a weird name – is she a Beckham or Cruise child that I somehow missed hearing about (probably because I had my fingers in my ears)?

Its funny, this flanker sounds way better than the original. I know it gets raves (the female version, anyway) but to me it was always just a very plasticky lemon-bamboo-apple concoction.

I tried this. I did not like it, too mainstream. Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s is completely sold out and I don’t know why, it smells dirty.
