Eh. No thank you.
I admit I do not understand the appeal.
Nor do I.
And nor do I.
Hasn’t the world had enough of Kim K already? Eh. After all that plastic surgery, she’s been everywhere. Interesting to see what she looked like before, so much work done. Yuk. Her fumes, umm, I think I’ll pass thanks.
That looked like a late 40’s Hollywood Starlet’s promo. If only it had been Veronica Lake or Lauren Bacall.
Come to think of it, I saw Ms. Bacall at an event a year or two ago. She seemed less like the famous “Slim” in “To Have and Have Not” and more like someone’s bohemian NY grandma (which, she probably actually is). You know what, I’d still rather wear a perfume fronted by the current, senior citizen Lauren than one by Kim.
Clearly she’s riffing on retro glamour, but the emphasis on the clothes and the expensive trappings (she’s more interested in her closet than the man, as near as I can tell) is a turn-off for me.
I did not notice that, but that at least would seem to be a “true reflection” of her recent five wedding gown marriage.
I kind of like the ad… I think ads that emphasize fashion/clothing/glamour are more appealing to me personally than ones that are like “ZOMG PERFUME WILL GET YOU A MAN!!! IN BED!!!”
I thought her first perfume was pretty good as celeb scents go. I never tried the Gold one or the limited edition wedding one.
That is true too — I don’t always like that emphasis either! I just did not find this appealing — seems equally as superficial.
Exactly, when I hear the words Kim K..it’s a turn off but ya, don’t get it. She probably is more interested in her closet than the man, so guess they are keepin it real, lol.
Robin, I was thinking the same thing – almost. I think she was more interested in looking in the mirror at herself than the man. Just like last year she was more interested in having a wedding than the man she was marrying and then a few weeks later was more interested in having her husband obey her and abide by her every whim then the man…I think I could go on….
It’s Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a hot tin Roof. Here’s what looks to be the inspiration of the first outfit

Here’s the last dress

Oh, exactly! Thanks.
Maggie the Cat, (the nickname for Elizabeth Taylor’s character) was such an unhappy woman.
You’d be unhappy, too, if your husband was in love with a man…:)
I guess I’d have to say I liked the ad more than I disliked it.
For me, it felt as though she was getting all gussied up for her man. I am 48, and still enjoy rummaging through the closet now and then to find something to make the husband’s eyes twinkle! Perhaps that’s outdated now.
I was also astonished to see that she seems to have some meat on her bones. A model with big hips is enough to make me appreciate the ad! It really surprised me.
JolieFleurs, you took the words out of my mouth! It’s so heartening to see someone in a perfume ad with some meat on her bones, as we used to say. 🙂
I must be going blind. I read ‘sultry’ as something else!
I did, too! Does it rhyme with putty?? 😉
*snort!*
I liked the ad. It’s very classy and not sleazy.
I am SUCH a sucker for anything retro ): This ad could be fronted by my worst enemy and I would still love it. Lucky, lucky girl to get to wear those clothes!! I am so jealous!
I really like the ad. With the exception of KK. Sigh.
