Posted by Robin on 16 February 2012 17 Comments

Ralph Lauren Romance Summer Blossom

Ralph Lauren has launched Romance Summer Blossom, a new flanker to their 1998 Romance fragrance for women:

Bask in the essence of summer with Ralph Lauren Summer Blossom, a magnificently fresh, fruity floral that embodies a playful air of sunshine and romance. Summer Blossom is the latest edition to the classic Romance collection, offering a dreamy interpretation of summer's unforgettable ambiance.

The notes include mandarin, guava, jasmine, coconut water and vanilla.

Ralph Lauren Romance Summer Blossom is available now at Nordstrom, in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

It’s lovely, but why why why offer a summer flanker only in 100 ml?

So that you could drown in it during the whole summer, LOL.

Sounds nice and I am looking forward to trying it!

Now can you explain how come all these new releases come in pink flacons?

Bvlgari Omnia Coral, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Now Elizabeth Arden.

Perhaps they all use the same focus group results … so creative. :-(

There are a limited number of colors for women’s fragrances, so if you’re going to do 1500 new fragrances a year, there is going to be a lot of pink!

When I worked a major department store, these flankers for Romance were usually fairly successful. The fact is, even Romance’s devotees needed a break once in a while from that very sweet floral.

I’m sure they sell very well — Romance still has lots of fans!

I loved Romance but not on me.

Glamorous, on the other hand, was lovely.

        Wish they’d resurrect it …

Boy are you right about Romance still having many fans, Robin. It is the signature of every other 18-35 year old in my neighborhood. Many of my cousins were Romance, so I am so sick of smelling it.

This flanker’s bottle is adorable, though!

Nice bottle. Would look very pretty on a dressing table. Not ever inclined to actually wear the juice.

It reminds me of the latest Valentina bottle which is so pretty with its pink and white flowers, though the juice let it down, I felt. There seems to be an emerging trend for actual 3-D embellishments – what my mother might have called “bediggling”, a word I have never heard anyone use before or since.

Yes, Valentina has a nice bottle, but the spray top seems to be fragile

I also could not wait to see the Valentina bottle in person. Not as pretty as in the picture. I agree was very disappointed in the juice

I’ve never thought guavas smelled like anything I’d like to smell like…and the original Romance leaves me cold. That sure is a pretty bottle though….
