I read about this first on Jezebel. This was my comment:
“As a lover of perfume, and a hater of Axe, I actually said “Ew, no!” aloud to myself when I read the headline for this article on my Google Reader feed. Because, seriously, ew, no! Axe is repulsively foul-smelling, and I can’t imagine a feminine version being very good. About the feminism angle, I can’t imagine anything good coming from a company whose current advertising is so ridiculously woman-belittling. Axe commercials are as insulting to the intellect as Axe body spray is to the nose.”
Ah. On the one hand, can’t disagree with any of that. On the other, a lot of the Axe commercials are hysterically funny, and I long ago gave up looking for gender equality in perfume commercials. And so few perfume commercials are funny!
Rofl @ Axe commercials…mmm don’t think I’ll be interested in Axe for women, don’t think that will work out well.
Hard to say — I have no idea if the target market (very young) will be interested or not.
I actually found the name Anarchy for a women’s fragrance interesting, although a bit less now that I see it is a counter part to Anarchy for Him.
Better if the anarchy is widespread?
I like the name too actually. I only have a problem with glamorizing shop lifting. I think this ad is geared towards teens and young adults, so it is not really appropriate from that standpoint. I would still be curious to try this though.
Some of the commercials really are clever — I loved the falling angels one.
I liked that one too. And the one where the man kept turning into whatever the woman wanted, although now I can’t remember if that was Axe or some other body spray.
Aha…Lynx.
