Lubin Idole ~ new Eau de Parfum version

Posted by Robin on 14 November 2011 13 Comments

Lubin Idole new Eau de Parfum

French niche line Lubin has launched a new Eau de Parfum version of Lubin Idole. Like the original Eau de Toilette, it was developed by perfumer Olivia Giacobetti.

Idole de Lubin offers a spellbinding glimpse into the fantasy world created by talented perfumer Olivia Giacobetti. Inspired by voyages from Madagascar to Java, from Zanzibar to the Spice Islands, it is a smoldering composition conveying the exhilarating sense of discovery and the intoxicating beauty of the tropics.

The fragrance unfolds as a series of vignettes, from the monsoon drenched jungle to the smoky incense of a sacrificial offering. The complex woody base of ebony, mahogany, red sandalwood and doum palm supports the opulent heart of saffton and leather. Bitter orange peel and rum absolute lend an effervescent element to this striking fragrance.

Please note that the description is identical to that for the Eau de Toilette.

Lubin Idole Eau de Parfum can be found now at Aedes, $160 for 75 ml.

Just saw this on the Aedes newsletter. That bottle is even more striking than the original! Might have to cave and get this one, too….

The 2 bottles can stare each other down on your dresser 😉

I am lucky I don’t like it so well. It is striking, I just don’t like it.

Interesting. What I always liked about Idole was that it’s autumnal yet sheer. I wonder how a stronger concentration might affect that.

I also like the old bottle much better.

I don’t think I wanted it stronger/deeper, and I like the old bottle best too. But betcha we’re in the minority!

The scent sounds reasonably original – which is a change!

I think a stronger concentration is just what Idole needed. I mean sheer is good but Idole edt left you wanting more!

NOW I know why there was a little voice in my head telling me to hold off buying the EDT…

Another vote for the old bottle. Although I’m balancing it out with my approval of the stronger concentration.
