Demeter Barbados Cherry & Caravan NYC ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 22 September 2011 9 Comments

Demeter Barbados Cherry

Demeter has launched two new fragrances, Barbados Cherry and Caravan NYC:

Barbados Cherry ~ "Delicate and soft, Demeter's Barbados Cherry scent is a juicy burst of flavor that is both sweet and tart at the same time. Say “Hello” to the polar opposite of Maraschino Cherry. A beautiful and colorful native shrub with small pink and white flowers that bloom in spring, late summer and fall, The Barbados Cherry plant produces an abundance of red cherry-plum like fruit. It is the richest of all fruits for their vitamin C." Barbados Cherry is available in in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50) and in matching bath & body products.

Caravan NYC ~ "This unique, sparkling scent with peach skin, strawberry leaf, caramelized sugar and ylang ylang captures the bright optimism and creativity that is the essential character of the NYC Midtown Garment center, and a very personal tribute to my father." Caravan NYC is a limited edition created for Fashion's Night Out; it is available in 30 ml Cologne Spray or 10 ml Perfume Oil roll-on. 50% of the proceeds will go to charities including the NYC AIDS Fund for Fashion's Night Out and Made in Midtown.

Both of these sound great. Maybe enough to finally get me to make that Demeter order I’ve been putting off for ages…

I’ve usually got a Demeter order in mind! These 2 sound too fruity/sweet for me though. I am still wanting to try the Chai Tea they did a couple years ago.

I’m always more excited by Demeter’s “weird” scents than their “wearable” ones. I still haven’t tried Thunderstorm but I adore the idea of it.

Agreed. I love the idea of Dirt and Tomato Leaf, and have heard really good things about their Ginger Ale, though that isn’t exactly unusual in perfume.

I find Tomato very wearable, though it lasts about five minutes like a lot of the Demeters.

I am too, usually, but I’ve liked some of the “basic food” ones too.

    Caravan NYC.

What an odd name for these notes and the theme of NY Fashion Night Out.

Barbados Cherry is far more interesting.

There is a longer explanation about Caravan at their website:

I can’t help it, the major thing that crosses my mind when I see or hear “caravan” is Dodge.

Of course…motor oil, hot upholstery, melted crayons, french fries, chlorine, cherry Dum-Dums and wet dog are all scents that Demeter could probably handle. If not in conjunction.
