Gucci has launched Gucci Guilty Intense, new variations on Gucci Guilty and Gucci Guilty Pour Homme.
Guilty Intense ~ "Where the original was an eau de toilette, Gucci Guilty Intense is an eau de parfum: a provocatively warm oriental floral with passion at its core. The scent seizes attention with a flamboyant opening born of the natural rush that is mandarin - imbued with a modish transparency - shimmering alongside an audacious fist of pink pepper. The middle notes reveal a blossoming of lilac, enriched with the sensual femininity of powdery violet and heliotropine. The patchouli that is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances reaches a lavish new intensity laced with an addictive, amber-rich sillage." Available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.
Guilty Intense Pour Homme ~ "Gucci Guilty Intense is an arresting eau de toilette: a contemporary fougère that provokes as it seduces. The scent seizes hold of the senses with a heady fix of bracing Italian lemon and invigorating lavender, undercut with a tang of coriander. Its middle motifs persuade like an insistent invitation. Aphrodisiac orange flower - stimulating and entrancing - yields to an unexpectedly masculinity reinforcing neroli. The patchouli that is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances reaches a new potency laced with the driest amber and a leather-rich sillage - robustly earthy, yet suggestively exotic." Available in 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette.

Wow, most of that is readable, except for, ‘…yields to an unexpectedly masculinity reinforcing neroli.’ They must have thought orange flower sounded too girly!
I think there is supposed to be a difference between orange flower and neroli, although I am not sure exactly what it is. Some sources say that neroli is from the blossoms of the bitter orange and orange flower is from the blossoms of the sweet orange. Others say that both are from the bitter orange but that neroli is obtained by steam distillation and orange blossom by solvent extraction. I have found a couple of online sources of essential oils and absolutes that make the distillation/extraction distinction. I suspect, however, that much perfume copy uses the terms interchangeably. They probably figure most people reading the copy don’t know what neroli is. I also doubt whether this perfume contains much of the real thing, as both are very costly.
I think I remember Helen having some nice explanation of the distinctions on perfumeshrine which has a section on materials used. But it sounds like these may be terms used differently by different people, adding to the general confusion!
But I didn’t mean that they used ‘neroli’ as a substitute for ‘orange flower’. Both are used:
‘Aphrodisiac orange flower – stimulating and entrancing – yields to an unexpectedly masculinity reinforcing neroli.’
Its just so clumsily phrased!
There is a difference in how it is extracted, and in the smell. But the ad copy is silly either way!
Patchouli is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances? Since when? The Intense pour Homme description sounds like it’s geared towards guys who don’t want to waste their energy on flirting and seducing and want their perfume to do it for them by knocking the female over the head so he can drag her back to his man-cave!
All snark aside, I’ll definitely try these. I wonder if I’ll like the women’s better than the original. No matter how many times I try it, it’s just hairspray on me. Pour Homme, despite it’s tragic ad copy, sounds promising.
i wondered about the patchouli too. and i blame it all on Frida Giannini. there would have been none of that nonsense under Tom Ford.
I like what she’s done as far as design direction for the house but fragrance-wise I’ve been disappointed.
It came as a surprise to me too, LOL…
“audacious fist of pink pepper” almost makes pink pepper seem compelling.
Or mean & pushy, LOL…
Are the bottles for the women’s Gucci Guilty and Gucci Guilty Intense exactly the same? I’m interested in testing the intense out (I liked the original, but wanted more lasting power) but if it looks exactly the same on the outside it’ll be hard to find…. 😛
The bottles of the women’s Gucci Guilty and Gucci Guilty Intense are similar in shape but different in colors, the edp has a slightly darker shade of gold with smoked grey glass. the edt got more bling.
As for the juice, the intense definitely got more punch to it aka intense, the longer i wear the more i like it.
Even guiltier?
Ok… Just Call me Guilty… GUILTY OF LOVING THESE SCENTS! 🙂 the women’s was my fave scent from last year and the men’s has been on my skin virtually non-stop since i bought it when it came out! 😉 these are already on the Buy List! …and Snarkers… (*WINK*) Patchouli is at the heart of all of Giannini’s Fragrances for Gucci, you can easily smell it in Gucci By Gucci and (especially the men’s version) and More lightly in Flora but very much so also in Guilty…
When I tried these on, the men’s edt lasted longer than the women’s edp. Haha. : )
I’m looking for the best male Gucci eau de toilette. I owned a 1.7oz Gucci By Gucci. Is this one their masterpiece when it comes to a male fragrance?
Thanks for your time!
No idea, sorry!
Robin,
thanks anyway!
What can you tell me about Amber Pour Homme Intense, by Prada? I really love the previous version of this edt, but here in Brazil I have to search a lot to find some fragrances, so I have to buy them online, without smelling it first.
There are two other fragrances that I’ve been looking for your thoughts about it: Antidote, by Viktor & Rolf, and Xeryus Rouge, by Givenchy. Would you recommend it?
And one more time, thank you for your time.
Here is a review of the Prada:

I did not love Antidote but you’ll find lots of good reviews on other blogs. I haven’t smelled the Xeryus Rouge.
