Tom Ford will launch Violet Blonde, a new perfume for women, in September. Violet Blonde reportedly has the "spirit of a classic European perfume" and is "chic and stylish". It joins the Signature Collection (in other words, not the Private Blend range).
The notes include violet leaf, orris, jasmine, mandarin, pink pepper, benzoin, cedar, vetiver, musk and suede.
Tom Ford Violet Blonde will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Update: see a review of Tom Ford Violet Blonde.
Just saw an ad for this in the new Elle and wondered why I hadn’t heard of it until now! The notes sound awfully standard, but I’ve never known Tom Ford to do a conventional fragrance. I’m sure he’ll put an interesting twist on it.
Let’s hope!
Apparently the Violet Blond does not really like violet; she wears maroon lipstick, maroon nail polish, maroon rouge and carries a maroon purse.
🙂
I hope this turns out as interesting as Black Orchid though I’m not holding my breath just yet.
🙂
I was so excited when I first heard about this. Now, I see violet leaves, which is a note I tend not to like, but no violets. Are they too demure for Mr. Ford? I guess the violet concept comes from the orris/iris note, which gives me a bit of hope. And pink pepper? tsk tsk! I’ll probably still get a sample from TPC, though. 😛
I’m personally not expecting anything like a soliflore anyway…doesn’t seem his style.
This is true.
I have such high hopes for this, although I agree with LaMaroc – the pink pepper is disconcerting. I love many of the TFs – private collection as well as Black Orchid – so I will definitely give this a try.
I thought the same thing when I saw the pink pepper too. It’s in everything these days it seems but I do like jasmine, cedar, and vetiver so I think I may like this one.
Interesting. I’m curious how it’ll compare to his Black Violet.
Black Violet is a good one. I do like many TF fragrances, so I’ll definitely check this one out. And I have to add that I’m glad it’s part of the more affordable ‘Signature Collection’.
I still need to try Black Violet, and I’d give this new one a whirl.
has the “spirit of a classic European perfume” and is “chic and stylish”…..
and also it seems too intent on people believing this? 🙂
I like TF frags, so I will be looking forward to smell this.
Now you mention that this is probably not going to be a soliflore…
Any recommendations on good Violet soliflores that smell like the real thing? just curious. 🙂
Penhaligon’s Violetta!
thanks!
My old favorite, and I hope they haven’t reformulated it to death: Borsari Violetta di Parma.
Mmmm, interesting! thanks! 🙂
The “spirit of a classic European perfume” = powdery.
I hope it is not the case! 😛
Yeah, I hope not too.
This sounds just interesting enough that I’ll have to try it, even though violets are not usually my thing!
Flicking past this, I read this as “Violent Blonde”.
“Violent Blonde” sounds much more interesting!!
I just logged in to post the same thing. 🙂
TF is hit or miss for me, but the hits really impress me. I’m on a huge violet kick and would sell my grandmother’s shoes for cedar, so I’m on board with this.
Don’t sell your grandmother’s shoes! :O
I’m telling you benzoin is the new oud. Prada Candy is out BTW and the bottle is so covetable but the box is total trash.
I’m a brunette, so does that mean I can’t wear this one?
Only violet leaf is in the notes yet the fragrance is called Violet Blonde? Black Orchid was a signature scent for me for about a year, back when I had such a thing as a signature scent, so I hope this one gets a review eventually. 🙂
I honestly thought “Violent Blonde” was a cocktail drink?… I have no idea where I get these ideas.
Not “violent”… “violet” is what I meant above. I thought a Violet Blond was some sort of cocktail.
TF Never lets me down… I can bet GOOD Money that this is certainly not going to be the Expected and be something of a whole new animal! The Notes Sound Awesome and I didn’t particularly even realize Pink Pepper was in it til someone mentioned and just because of it’s ubiquity doesn’t mean in the hands of someone brilliant, Pink Pepper CANNOT Be Awesome! 🙂 So add this one to the BREATHELESSLY AWAITING List and Let Tom Consume My Soul Once More!
Wow, gotta love your enthusiasm! Agree with you about pink pepper, by the way.
😀 Thank You! 🙂
Lust! And is that model Lara Stone in the ad?
Yep!
Another scintillating visual from Tom Ford – as usual!
By the way Robin, have you smelt Violet Angel from Thierry Mugler’s Angel Garden of Stars? Do you think it would be quite different to Violet Blonde?
Yes, although haven’t smelled it since it came out.
And no way to know — haven’t heard a single description of VB from somebody who has actually smelled it. But offhand wouldn’t expect it to be patch-heavy (or even necessarily an oriental — do wish they’d given the fragrance family), so would be surprised if it was much like Violet Angel.
Ahh I’ve found a really cheap bottle of Violet Angel on an online discounter and I’m not sure if I should buy it unsniffed… Also, on the site the juice looks brown?! I thought it would be a pale purple…
Admit I’d be worried about the age of the bottle too, since I’m not at all sure TM still makes that one and it’s been out for a good long while.
Wearing it now. I am in love. *swoon*
I smelled it on card this past weekend at Sak’s. I thought, on card at least, it smelled outstanding, rich and beautiful. I want to go back and try it on skin. I foolishly went with my initial intention for going to Saks and put No. 19 Poudre on skin rather than Violet Blonde. 😛 No. 19 Poudre = totally blah.
