Actually Kate Middleton. Coming here at this time there is so much about the royal wedding, and it made me think: she has no intimacy with anything, everything is seen. Her dress will be seen, her hair, her ring. I love the idea that her scent, the fragrance she chooses to wear on the day, will be the only part that is intimate.
— Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, answering the question "Who would you love to create a signature scent for?" at Vogue.
He’s a smart guy.
I thought it was an interesting answer.
What a wonderful response and one of the most thoughtful things I have actually read regarding this whole royal wedding.
I agree.
Ditto.
this may be the first bit of news about the royal wedding to really pique my interest! apart from the jelly bean with kate middleton’s face, of course. thanks for sharing.
And, if I were he, I would get on that right away!
Hugs!
Sounds like we just need to wait for the Elie Saab!
I love Francis K. Lumiere Noire and Absolue pour le Soir are amazing!
Grace Kelly was given special fragrances as gifts for her wedding and Princess Diana wore Diorissimo during her life, so what do WE perfumistas suggest for Kate’s wedding?
Eau de good luck?
Sorry, couldn’t help it! 😉
I have no doubt, she would smell beautiful with Attrape coeur: those regal violets are the right match for her blue eyes… and for the sapphire ring she is wearing!
Oh blah enough already with Kate.I just find her uninteresting.I suggest he create a fragrance called Eau de Boring.
His descrip of her is not very enthralling. He doesn’t see her as a femme fatale; but she is going through a change. There is something warm and natural about her. Zzzzzzzzzzz
Though his statement about the wedding is interesting.
I just want Francis to make a scent for ME…
Ditto.
Although I’m no slavish follower of royalty, I do wish this young couple all the luck in the world. They seem to me as though they actually have a chance of success. They’ve known each other a long time, they’ve had time apart dating other people and yet come back to each other, and this is a love match, not a political alliance. William’s grandmother has had a long and successful marriage and no one was more steadfast in his love than Edward for his Wallis. Kate seems very grounded and has taken a matter-of-fact approach to the demand of the royal life she’s assuming.
That Elie Saab sounds like another lemming! He’s done so many scents and I have tried so few of them. And I’ve been working my dabbing fingers to the bone… 😉
And he advises readers to take time to get to know a scent and observe its impact on those around them, rather than just reaching for the celeb scent – imagine what would happen if Vogue readers really took that to heart!
