L’Eau de Toilette de Lolita Lempicka ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 9 April 2011 24 Comments

L'Eau de Toilette de Lolita Lempicka

Lolita Lempicka will launch an Eau de Toilette concentration of what is now called Le Premier Parfum de Lolita Lempicka. L’Eau de Toilette de Lolita Lempicka will target a somewhat older customer; it's reportedly "more mature, womanly and less sugary".

The fruity woody floral was developed by perfumer Annick Menardo; notes include lemon, black cherry, jasmine, iris, licorice flower, violet wood, praline, frankincense and musk.

L’Eau de Toilette de Lolita Lempicka will be available in 30, 50 and 80 ml. (via wwd)

    Is this opposite day?
I must not have enough caffeine in my system and read the description incorrectly since “more mature, womanly and less sugary” is practically heresy these days.

You know, they say the market for the original is 15-18 year olds, so “more mature and womanly” might just mean it’s geared to a 21 year old.

the bottle is very cute but LL’s scents so far haven’t suited me. Oh well, money saved. :)

It is cute — I like the “bite from the apple” concept.

Ha! Just made that connection (older, more mature = bite from the apple)! Yeah, go coffee, go!

Hmm, I thought they already had an EDT version of the original LL. At least they did at one point — it had the same bottle but with silver decorations instead of gold.

They absolutely have had one in the past, and can only assume this is a new formulation.

      I had the same question.

When I see a bottle with a bite out of it, I get worried.

On Fragrantica this is called “Morsure D’Amour” or “Bite of Love”. To me, the cheeky bite out of the apple is like Eve tempting Adam to take that first bite of the forbidden fruit. Note that the bottle is devoid of the the usual ivy decorations and just has a simple “L”. I look forward to trying this. I really love the original EDT in the silvery bottle.

I thought the original looked like an apple, and this one looks like someone’s taken a bite out of it.

Didn’t Si Lolita come out last week?

No, Si Lolita came out in 2009. It just made it to the States though, I think.

I’ve been afraid to try LL because of the licorice note. Is it very strong?

You can smell it if you try, but it seems to just add a hint of sweetness to the overall perfume. On my skin, the fragrance doesn’t change too much from spray to drydown, and is one of those perfumes where it is blended well enough that no particular note stands out though you can pretty much smell them all if you try hard enough. I’m not huge into anis/licorice as a note and I don’t mind it at all in LL since it’s so beautifully blended and balanced.

Thanks, I think I’ll try it. The “black cherry jasmine” sounds interesting.

Lolita Lempicka fragrances use to have a well-balanced sweetness that I like very much. The bottle of L’Eau de Toilette is really nice. Mugler’s Ice Men and A* Man Summer flask have almost the same concept.

When I last tried LL it didn’t have very much staying power on my skin; and I don’t remember being bowled over backwards like so many reviewers were…But, maybe I need yet another trial as it has happened that on the zilteenth try of something I’v suddenly fallen head over heels. Either way, I doubt I would like a lighter one, unless it happened to be more tenatious.

I LOVE the original, if only because it was the signature scent of one of my best friends for years. She started wearing it at 16, and now at 21, has stopped. So I definitely agree about it being something that young girls wear. Still, I can’t smell it without it invoking hundreds of happy memories, so I always give a spritz whenever I see it.

I saw the 50 ml of this at TJMaxx for $19.99 today. I never saw it or tested it so I didn’t do it. I ADORE the original but have no clue how close this one is to it or how nice it is. I was SO tempted! I’m SO scared to buy things w/out having tested them. I’ve made that mistake one too many times. Haha. : )
