Paul Smith Optimistic ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 2 April 2011 21 Comments

Paul Smith Optimistic

Paul Smith has launched Paul Smith Optimistic, a new fragrance duo for men and women:

Paul Smith Optimistic for men ~ "Have fun, smile, celebrate and be positive with Paul Smith Optimistic for men. Containing an energetic top note of sharp mandarin and spicy black pepper, this fragrance really grabs your attention. The heart is a mix of sensations with the fresh note of mint and the softness of geranium. The base is a classic Paul Smith combination of aromatic and woody ingredients, with vetiver, cedar and the sensual surprise of amber."

Paul Smith Optimistic for women ~ "Have fun, smile, celebrate and be positive with Paul Smith Optimistic for women. The fragrance has an incredible burst of citrus energy with mandarin and pink grapefruit. The heart is very feminine with cranberry and sweet pea to create a soft fruity floral note, but it's the [sic] base has that classic Paul Smith twist...raspberry macaroon!"

The Paul Smith Optimistic fragrances are available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette; they can be found now at Boots in the UK. (via boots)

As much optimistic I could be but I could’t distinguish a single note, only alcohol..

I tried them and couldn´t smell more than red fruits for the women´s and calone for the men´s. By far the worst PS they have launched. I quite enjoyed the original PS Man, green bottle, and Story, now discontinued I believe.
        Oh, well, money saved!

I cannot get a decent macaron ANYWHERE near me. Have pity. I wish Fauchon in NYC had not closed…I loved the chocolate + passionfruit, although really I would eat any of them.

I simply *must* interject, as someone spoiled enough to live in Paris…Pierre Herme FAR out does Laduree! (Laduree’s macarons are actually made in a huge factory…the fresh ones delivered to the shops each day, the rest frozen and shipped to — no kidding — the McDonalds throughout France). If you get to Paris, DO NOT miss out on trying PH’s brilliant creations (around Christmas he puts one things like foie gras & fig, white truffle & hazlenut, yum!).
But of course – I’ve really never met a macaron I didn’t like!

Alicia, sadly, I read enough about macarons to know that Laduree is not considered the best in Paris. Fat lot of good that information does me ;-)

haha if they weren’t so perishable, I’d offer to mail you some!

That is kind! But as you know, they’re best when very fresh. It is ok, I have other food consolations, LOL…

haha indeed…there are plenty of things I miss from the US. But that being said, after this little discussion I think I’m going to need to pick up some macarons today…. ;)

My Paul Smith Rose is keeping me going until I can afford Sa Majeste La rose. But his ‘Woman’ and ‘London’ didn’t interest me much.

So far, Story is the only one I loved … but have not tried them all.
