It’s simple, timeless

A "behind the scenes" for the Lacoste L.12.12 commercial. If it were up to me (and it never is), I would have given over the whole 2 minutes to the origami artist folding the shirt.

I wondered how long it would take someone to capitalize on “12 – 12” and use it for a name of something. I’m surprised it’s a brand like LaCoste rather than say, one of the natural perfumers.

Supposedly wasn’t it always the code name for the Lacoste shirt? No idea if it’s true.

Exactly! And still don’t understand, I think the man is actually folding it and then the woman is pretending to?? So there’s always a woman’s arms in the final image?

I’m imagining all my tee-shirts folded that way…..maybe making a mosiac from them ( ok, maybe not) …. I’d like to see it in slow motion too.

There are several videos at YouTube that show how to fold a shirt this way. VideoJug’s version has more than 4 million hits (no affiliation!).

Anyone who wants to watch some truly astonishing and inspirational origami arts needs to check this out — it’s a film called “Between the Folds” about origami paper and fabric artists and the science and art of origami. It is amazing.

So am I the only one who finds it strange that the Lacoste guy (Mr. Lacoste?) talks about the crocodile without a *hint* of a sense of humor? I always thought it was funny to have a preppy shirt with a little cartoon-like character on the breast. He’s sooooo serious! (another example: the bottle design is “sensual?”)

at 00:25 – 00:26. that is amazing how he folds that shirt!
I wonder if they train their staff instore to fold them like that, ‘cos they’re always perfectly stacked. I must learn how to do it! it might only work with Lacoste polos though ;)
