Yardley Citrus & Wood ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 March 2011 11 Comments

Yardley Citrus & Wood

Yardley will launch Citrus & Wood, a new fragrance for men, in April:

The Citrus & Wood fragrance unites the spice of the orient with the earthy woodland, creating an illustrious, modern aroma, ideal for the discerning and contemporary gent who admires tradition and appreciates good quality and good value.

Inspired by the current fine fragrance trend of fusing classic cologne ingredients with contemporary elements, this unique fragrance contains fresh top notes of bergamot, lime and elemi with a spicy sensual heart of poivre, birchwood and oakmoss, enhanced by the warmth of sandalwood, cedarwood, amber and vetiver for its base.

Additional notes include grapefruit, orange, lemon, mandarin, ginger, green tea, carrot seed, cumin, patchouli, moss, tonka bean and vanilla.

Yardley Citrus & Wood will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via press release)

They couldn’t have picked a more boring name (like calling a women’s scent Flowers & Fruit), but this actually sounds as if it could be nice.

Yardley doesn’t seem to go for creative perfume names, though, at least not with their current offerings. English Lavender, English Rose, April Violets–they are all pretty simple statements of the main notes.

The name is pretty dullsville, it’s true.

I like yardley, and though I found most of their fragrances ‘too old school’ that changed for me with their fabulous lavender ginger and lime line ( which is of course discontinued)
I will certainly try this if it falls on my hands.

I haven’t tried anything by Yardley in ages…wish I had an old-fashioned apothecary near me.

I think I have entered into a new stage of perfume lover. Now not only am I obsessing over scents I want to try for me but now I am constantly on the lookout for samples for DH too and I think I created a monster because he’s liking it too! And this one sounds right up his alley. Help! 😉

Does that mean you won’t recieve any sidelong glances when you add a new FB to your collection? Cuz if so, doesn’t sound like a bad situation to be in! 🙂

I would not think it would be easy to get a sample of this!

Yardley is a puzzle. Even some of its 2009 releases (Geranium, Hyacinth) don’t seem to be on the website, so we have to assume they are discontinued. So I’d be nervous about falling in love with Citrus and Wood. Could be a case of ‘Now you see it, now you don’t’.

They reorganized & repackaged the whole line in 2010, that’s why.

This reminds me of Penhaligon’s English Fern, which is citrus and wood, nothing more, nothing less.
