Mayron's Goods' line of body products caught my eye immediately with its packaging: the bold lettering, bright red borders, and 1950s-style illustration of a delivery man and his van are upbeat and distinctive. Although most of Mayron's Goods' nature-based lotions and potions were created with babies in mind, these labels are refreshingly free of ducks, peapods, or naked infants clad in flower petals; moreover, the products themselves are suitable for anyone who needs gentle, lightly scented skincare or just prefers to use products without ingredients such as synthetic fragrance, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, or DEA (diethanolamine).
In the final weeks of this long winter, I'm finding Mayron's Goods' Tangerine Massage & Body Oil especially soothing and effective on my dry, rough arms and legs. It includes an assortment of botanical oils for moisture and it sinks quickly into the skin; even more importantly, it has a tangerine-mandarin fragrance that feels like orange juice for the soul. Chapstuff for Cheeks and Lips, my other favorite from the line, is a balm blended from cocoa butter, beeswax, soybean oil, and other natural ingredients. It smells like oranges and milk chocolate, in a subtle, non-artificial way, and it adds a little bit of fun to dealing with winter-ravaged skin. Chapstuff is packaged in a push-up container like a travel-size deodorant stick, which makes it neat and convenient for elbows, heels, or any other dry areas; I like it best as a lip balm and a cuticle healer. According to Mayron's Goods, it's a particularly popular item with skiers and other people who spend a lot of time outdoors in chilly, windy climates.
Mayron's Goods also offers Astonishing Hydrating Body Milk, a light lotion with a citrus-herbal aroma, and Our Best Diaper Cream, a zinc-based formula enhanced with aloe and calendula, and scented with lavender essential oil. (The Diaper Cream is also useful for adult-skin irritations.) None of the products have been tested on animals, and a percentage of the company's profits is donated to women's health research. Anything from the line would make a cheerful, useful gift for a new mother and baby, or just for yourself.
Mayron's Goods Tangerine Massage & Body Oil (2 oz for $14), Chapstuff for Cheeks and Lips (.95 oz for $14), Astonishing Hydrating Body Milk (4 oz for $14), and Our Best Diaper Cream (2 oz for $12), as well as other products, are sold through the Mayron's Goods website.
Jessica, these sound fantastic. I’ll be sure to check them out since my kids and I seem to always be warring with chapped lips/dry skin during the winter despite drinking loads of water.
As for my own personal lip/skin saving discoveries this winter, I’ve been loving Rosebud Salve both in the original rose scent as well as the strawberry, and Body Time’s body and bath oil scented with pink grapefruit fragrance oil rubbed on immediately after a shower. Both have done a fantastic job, too, and are very reasonably priced. 🙂
AS, I’m not usually prone to dry skin, but this winter has really left me feeling dry and itchy, and my cuticles have never been worse, so I encountered this line at just the right time! I’m seriously smitten with the Chapstuff stick. And the Diaper Cream, used sparingly, has really helped with cracked/dry bits on my hands and feet.
love the citrus fragrance as ‘orange juice for the soul’ – perfect describer!
🙂
Jessica, the “orange juice for the soul” as just perfect! I live in a dry climate, and while we don’t have snow and ice, hiking on dry windy days is cruel to the skin. I have elbows like hedgehogs and cuticles like my native cactus. If they have a shampoo without sodium lauryl sulfate, to which I am allergic, I will be in heaven!
Quinncreative, They do make an all-over body wash that can also be used on hair; I didn’t mention it, because it doesn’t have much of a fragrance, but it felt gentle to me (haven’t tried it on my head!).
Oh, that Chapstuff sounds perfect! My 6 yr old has horribly dry and sensitive skin. Her lips and cheeks start getting red and chapped already in October, so by this time of year, she’s miserable. She’s all about things that smell good, too, so I bet she’d really love this. Thanks!
Boojum, The stick seems very neat and handy to apply, plus it’s just fun, somehow!
Holy mackerel, Melanie Mayron! She was an appealing actress, always liked her. And her products sound great. I’m feeling so dry and itchy at the end of this long winter, I have the urge to douse myself in her lotion. I also like finding products without parabens, SLS, or DEA, and the prices are reasonable. Thanks for the tip!
Yes, indeed! Apparently it’s a family business — her father, a pharmaceutical chemist, develops the products with her!
