Mimosa is not a favorite of mine, but they’ve done a good job on the others in this series.

Love mimosa, love the yellow and black polka dot bow. Not so sure about peach, though…

Could be a really sweet combination…

Ditto. Mimosa is iffy for me; done right, I love it, but I’m picky.

Looks gorgeous, but mimosa is an elusive scent since it has to be recreated. So far the only commercial perfume that has come close to the real thing (and I do know a lil bit about the real thing since I used to live on the Côte d’Azur and mimosa was in the air everywhere around February/March) is Diptyque home fragrance. I did a double take in a store once: I could have sworn there was a bunch of mimosa somewhere. They had just sprayed the Diptyque.

Like CM, I’m unsure about the peach: it might make it really really sickly.

Yeah, it could. But as I said above, so far they’ve done a really nice job on this series. We’ll have to hope!

      Bela,
Do you know L’Occitane’s mimosa fragrance/soap? How does it compare to the real flowers? It shares a similar mimosa note that is in Guerlain’s Champs Elysees that came out in the late ’90s.
      Thanks!

I do know their mimosa range, but I haven’t had much luck with L’Occitane: *all* their fragrances turn sour on my skin within a few minutes and their mimosa is no exception. The soaps are OK, but there are some better ones (i.e. more faithful to the flower) on sale at markets along the Riviera and in the Vieille Ville in Nice. They’re cheaper too. I do realise that not a lot of people can have access to those.

*If* I wanted to smell of mimosa, which I don’t (I’d rather smell it in the atmosphere around me when I’m overcome with nostalgia), I would use the Diptyque spray (although I’m really not sure about using home fragrances on one’s skin).

Mimosa is so delicate, so not sweet, so not sharp either, that it always distresses me when I smell a ‘bad’ mimosa scent.

I like Champs-Elysées very much, but it’s the equivalent of Diorissimo with lily of the valley: a beautiful take on it.

OF: I don’t know from real mimosa, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked L’Occitane mimosa. I’m tempted to buy… or try to snag a mini.

Bela, you who have smelled real mimosa! Have you tried cinema, and if so what do you think of the mimosa note in there? Its lightly sweet, warm but quite delicate…

‘… you who have smelled real mimosa.’ LOL! It makes me feel rather blessed and special. I love everything about it: the tiny yellow powder puffs, the way the frilly leaves shrink when you touch them, even very lightly and, obviously, that heavenly scent…

Yes, I have tried Cinema, but not recently so I’m afraid I can’t recall what it smells like with any accuracy. I seem to remember it didn’t appeal to me very much, but I will give it another try. Thank you for pointing it out. 🙂

Champs-Elyesee does An AMAZING job with Mimosa as well and L’Artisan Mimosa Pour Moi is also a WONDEFUL Mimosa Scent!

This sounds really pretty and just perfect for spring. I’ve only tried Des Lys in the soliflore line and loved it. Speaking of AG soliflores, is Tubereuse nice? I saw it on Lucky Scent and was so tempted given my love for that note.

Go for the AG Tuberose – it is true, rich, and pretty, as well as scarce! 🙂

I know, me too! And mimosa rarely works out my skin, so I’d probably just leave the box out on my dresser. It just makes me happy looking at it! (Much needed after being attacked by the Virgin Island flu my nephew passed on to me.)

The notes sound rather like those for Carthusia Aria di Capri, which is a lovely scent. Hope this will be similarly smart.

Definitely interested in this. Generally love both AG and mimosa.

I think one of my FB purchases before summer is going to be SMN Gaggia/Mimosa though.

I was also very impressed with L’Occitane’s LE mimosa scent (in the Voyage en Méditerranée line).

I love mimosa from L’Occitane too. Smelled like a real thing on my skin. In fact, I didn’t realize mimosa even had a smell, and then a spray at L’Occitane store and I started seeing pictures from the early Spring of my childhood, the beginning of March when mimosa was everywhere…

I’ll test this just because I love most of the AG line, and keep my fingers crossed. But for some reason the notes list reads like a train wreck to me. I normally love mimosa – even the ultra natural green mimosa – but anise and mimosa? I can only trust the house of Goutal to handle a combo like that.
