Hello Kitty ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 12 January 2011 35 Comments

Sanrio Hello Kitty perfume

Sephora has a new Hello Kitty beauty collection, including several fragrance items:

You're sure to feel sweet and fancy with this pretty perfume. Made with some of Hello Kitty's favorite things, its notes of green apple and Japanese fruits will make you smile inside. As the fragrance's heart comes forward, you'll smell rich floral accords and a wink of warm vanilla. A little hint of musk is present in the base notes, adding a touch of glamour to a twinkling fragrance created especially for the young-at-heart.

Additional notes include cassis sorbet, mandarin, magnolia, freesia, orange blossom, tonka bean.

Hello Kitty is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, as shown above, for $55. Also available, a rollerball, shown below left, 10 ml for $18, and a solid perfume pendant on a 26" chain, $39. Matching body products are also sold.

I’m not even really in to Hello Kitty, however ever since Sephora sent me an email with a preview of these items I’ve been vying for them. So adorable. I really want the 50 ml EdP simply because of the bottle.

I am not a Hello Kitty fan (probably as a result of having two sons and there is absolutely no pink or girly stuff in my house) , but I have to admit that they really do a great job of making the kitten adorable…I want that bottle…

I know a 6 yr old who would love that solid… but I’m with Robin and like the rollerball best.

I think a 6-year-old would probably love the rollerball too. My very first perfume of my own (as opposed to what I snitched from the bottles on my mother’s dressing table) was an Avon rollerball with a little plastic flower on top that someone gave me as a Christmas gift when I was about 5 or 6. I loved it, and I would have loved one with a cat head even more.

Oh, she would…but alas, she has no concept of moderation. So I think the lower-sillage solid would be kinder to those around her. 😀

Darn, I’m gonna have to get the full size edp because of that bottle with the atomizer bulb. Too cute.

Love the bottle and roller ball. Wish the description sounded just a little less generic.

Holy Cow! I want that rollerball and I’m not even that big a fan of HK.

Seems to be an AWFUL lot of HK merchandising done recently, no?

I wish I knew a deserving 6 yr old!! (any 6 yr old would do) that bottle is just too cute and I’m not even a Hello Kitty fan. (although I’m quite a fan of pink 🙂 )
Even the roll on is adorable. The solid, not so much.

I like rollerballs. Not a fan of HK, but it seems like a nice present for a young girl.

I freely admit it, I’m obsessed with Hello Kitty and have been since she came over from Japan in the late 70s/early 80s. I will definitely try (if not buy) this fragrance. That being said, I’m a fan of the “red bow” Kittychan; the pink bow always seems to be an accommodation for Western fondness of pink=girl.

Love love love. Will probably buy.

But the model on the homesite looks positively insane:

    http://sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml;jsessionid=D5OJOH13XGBPGCV0KQLQIGQ?brandId=Hello+Kitty

She’s like a cautionary tale to people over 13 about the continued use of all things Hello Kitty!

      Eeeek!
They should have done something Japanese style, usually good at injecting cute girliness with some healthy irony.

I got the Sephora email as well but by the time I went to the site to check it out, they were out of almost everything. I am a total HK slut and am in love with the line. The nail polishes are *adorable* and I’m usually only given to shimmers/foils and vampy colors. I wondered if this was the same formula as the Hello Kitty perfume sold through Bath and Body Works some years back…

The Momoberry perfume oil is quite pretty, too, since I couldn’t resist that launch either. 🙂 Looking forward to picking this one up.

I might buy it for my daughter-beautiful pink bottle, and the glittering pendant; surely smells extremely feminine; which my daughter likes 😀

It’s a typical, non offensive fruity floral, nothing remarkable or new, but one that I could not resist buying for my 6 yr old daughter, who just LOVES it! The bottle is just as adorable as the pictures. So is the rollerball. I got the last bottle at that store, not that they won’t order in more of course. Not cheap by any means however…with tax, this 50ml bottle in Canada at Sephora came to $81 !!!! They didn’t have the pendant solid, so I didn’t get to see that.

I just had to smell this one when I was in Sephora, and being that Hello Kitty doesn’t have a great run with fragrances, I figured it would smell like Kool Aid or erasers (which apparently, the Sanrio Demeter scents intentionally do!). I was actually pleasantly surprised- it’s a lot more wearable scent that I’d figure, and not entirely relying on the cute packaging.
