Donna Karan DKNY Women Energizing ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 January 2011 19 Comments

Donna Karan DKNY Women Energizing

Donna Karan will launch DKNY Women Energizing, a new flanker for 1999's DKNY Women. DKNY Women Energizing is a lighter, fresher fragrance than the original DKNY Women, and is meant to "feel like New York on a summer day".

The notes include citrus, iced vodka, tomato leaves, water lily, green coral orchids, daffodil, white birch, tulip tree bark.

DKNY Women Energizing will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmoty.de)

Waaaait just a minute. New York on a summer day, at least when I’ve been there, is muggy, stinky, and full of investment bankers, strangely-dressed students, hurried women in clacky shoes, and homeless people.

I’m betting the DK people were not going for *that*. Maybe their New York summers are different.

mals86 is right on! New York in the summer is only energizing for people who are in an air conditioned Town Car on their way to the Hamptons.

New York in the autumn is energizing…a walk up Fifth Avenue from about 34th Street to 59th Street (Central Park South) is incredibly energizing…

“It’s autumn in New York, folks…such a beautiful sight…the colors are changing from green to yellow, orange and fiery red to brown…and that’s just the hot dogs the street vendors sell.” – David Letterman.

These are fantasy NY summers, for people who don’t live there :-)

Ha! Mals raises a good point, there.

I am curious, though, as this is the only perfume I have more than one bottle of and yet don’t know if I like it. (What?!?!?!) Combine a steal with the sense that the original is one that will be a reference point into the future…and the *chance* that I might want to actually wear it as a perfume and not an experiment…and, well…

Anyway, maybe by “lighter, fresher” they mean it will only be a paste on nose earring, as opposed to the original, which has an aspect that can pierce your nose through if you aren’t careful.

They make stick-on nose studs? Innnnteresting.

Yup, little sparkly pseudo-studs. They did, at least. I saw them once, but have not sought them out.

      Yes, guessing it’s a paste-on nose earring!

Any scent that list tomato leaves is one that I am willing to try.
Those notes sound more interesting than most that I read!!

The original is quite nice (and also has tomato leaf)

Ha, interesting, it was the opposite reaction from me: anything that lists tomato leaves I won’t bother. I received a mini of Un Jardin Sur le Nil in a swap and I have to close my eyes and wait until the tomato leaves are gone, and then I can enjoy it.

And in all truth, there’s no green coral orchids even in spring ;-)

New York on a summer day – the subway stations are hot and humid, and they smell of burning rubber because the breaking system on the subways uses rubber. I guess a DKNY woman would never take a subway.

I had the same “huh?” reaction to the New York summer day comparison. Does anyone ever proofread ad copy? Just wondering? And could I get away with an “iced bodka” note at work without having a mandatory meeting with HR? Could anyone?

Why, yes, I am still a bit snarky about being back at work….

Ah yes, NYC summer smells: the aromas of decomposing bagged garbage on the sidewalks for early a.m. pickup; fetid puddles of mysterious cloudy liquids in the streets; steam shooting into the air from work being done underground; and the sweat of strangers one encounters while riding the subway—all heated up by the abundant pavement and cars.

At least there are daffodils in NY in the . . . spring.

I’m in for the smell of RICH NY apartments in the summer. These notes sound very interesting. But didn’t DKNY Pure just come out? No more for a while, please, Donna!

When I started to read the notes I imediately thought of Bloody Mary coctail. And to have a summer day with vodka and the other stuff in it….hm?
