Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 22 December 2010 26 Comments

Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée

Atelier Cologne will launch a sixth fragrance, Vanille Insensée, in February:

He wove through the crowd when suddenly his heart quickened. That scent. It was hers. He had worn it first until she stole it for herself. Now, there she was before him and the magic of years past came flooding back in a moment.

The notes feature lime, cedrat, coriander, jasmine, vetiver, oak moss, vanilla, oak wood and amber.

Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée will be available in 30 ($60) or 200 ($170) ml Cologne Absolue (15% concentration). (via press release)

Update: Vanille Insensée was developed by perfumer Ralf Schwieger.

Another update: see a review of Vanille Insensée.

so, is she a perfume thief who sneaks in and steals your bottles at night? He’s finally tracked her down…. what odd copy.
Anyhooo—I’ll have to get a sample of this one. First, I’m always interested in vanillas….second, I love sniffing real ground coriander…lastly, oak moss, oak wood and amber? can’t go wrong there! Not a fan of vetiver, hopefully it’ll come across as soft hay–I can get behind a nice warm, sunny hay note.

I dunno….I was only considering the benefits of taking up a career as a perfume thief…on the other hand, I’m way too lazy to seek out brick and mortar stores for perfume acquisition…so breaking in a 2 AM to snatch bottles would be far too much work.

You’d have to steal from your own collection, lol. Who else but you, where you live, would have anything worth stealing?

I fear you may be correct……but on the bright side: it’s not very far from my warm bed …downstairs to my perfume cabinets to perform the nights thievery—I wouldn’t even have to put on shoes—this appeals to my outrageously lazy side. 🙂

I hardly noticed the copy, I was too busy noticing the 30 ml — apparently they’re all in 30 ml now, I missed that entirely.

Oh! Thanks for pointing out the 30ml. I would have missed it. This sounds sample worthy, but I hope these aren’t still exclusive to NM.

Daisy, You have such a way with words! I myself can be a perfume thief. I literally stole almost all of my husband’s Dia Man.
Since you like vanilla; Here’s something the hubby told me: He was reading in the old days, women used to apply vanilla extract and wore it as a perfume. I have not yet tried this. I’m wondering if it’ll work.

I love vanilla extract dabbed on! It only lasts a short time though. Now that you mention it though….I wonder if you could add a small amount of fixative to an atomizer of pure vanilla extract and give it some staying power?

I plan to be a perfume thief of my husband’s Christmas fragrance gift. Varvatos 10th anniversary special edition. I sampled it when I bought it for him and couldn’t stop sniffing myself all day. – I really like it. Is it wrong for me to insist that he share his present with me? He can have the other presents I give him all for himself. 😉

Interesting! My husband has a spray sample of this – I’ll have to steal it and try it!!! 🙂

LOL I do borrow his Varvatos Artisan and his Coromandel sometimes – but they weren’t Christmas presents. It probably is a little tacky of me to insist he has to share it with me – but I’m okay with that. 😀

You are not alone Rustic Dove. My hubby and I had a tradeoff last year. I didn’t like a sample from Luckyscent I ordered( I can’t remember what it was) and I loved the Dia Man and kept asking him if I could use some. I too kept sniffing myself all day.
You could always start a new tradition and make the Varvatos a joint gift where you both could use it.

Dolly, it sounds like YOU need your own bottle of Dia Man….it’s my favorite of the men’s amouages as well. Perhaps we should discuss splitting some up when your hubby’s bottle starts running low.

I gave my DH a bottle of Jo Malone Vetiver for his birthday and am planning to reclaim it soon, so, no rustic, I think you’re fine with that. 🙂 I actually liked the copy on this – it seemed romantic and kind of how I tend to remember people and places in my life (by scent).

The copy is sort of romantic. I wonder if the frag will resemble Barbara Bui. It is a definite must sample, and at least it wouldn’t break the bank if I decide I need an fb.

Mr. Ab. Scent and I share his colognes as well. I think the last four I bought him, Divine l’Homme Sage, another bottle of Obsession for men (what I bought him when we were dating way back when), Divine l’Homme de Coeur and Escada Magnetism for men (another often overlooked gem that’s sort of an earthy meets cola sort of thing and like nothing else I’ve smelled) have been “shared” from time to time. Oh, and I also got him JV Artisan last Father’s Day and being the neroli/orange blossom whore I am, I couldn’t keep away from that one either. 🙂

I have enjoyed all the Atelier Colognes. Trefle Pur and Oolang Infini are in my list and I love it that they are in 30ml at Neiman Marcus. Some of them are $55, come others are $60. I am looking forward to trying this one.

Clever how the copy ad targets men and woman – it was his, she stole it, now all the passion comes flooding back in a whiff! ie. its uisex, and very sexy to both!

Agree with Merlin that they are very clever in marketing to both men and women with this ad!

Actually I like this ad copy except that I keep thinking, if it is a new scent, how can she have worn it for years? It’s an anachronism. But 30 ml bottles of Trefle Pur – all is forgiven!
