A Perfume Organic Mejica ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 5 November 2010 19 Comments

A Perfume Organic Mejica

A Perfume Organic will launch Mejica, a new natural organic perfume, next week:

Vanilla is a legendary scent derived from orchids native to Mexico. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice after saffron, due to the extremely labor intensive cultivation technique. In fact, vanilla is so expensive, armed guards patrol the fields during cultivation and private jets transport the V.I.P. pods to market.

Our newest perfume Mejica, blends several varieties of organic vanilla, DPE free benzoin, nutmeg, coconut and spices for a velvety experience - perfect for the coming holiday gift giving season - Everyone LOVES Vanilla!!

A Perfume Organic Mejica comes in 12 ml Perfume Oil roll-on, packaged in "a plantable flower seed-embedded box". (via press release)

Is that correct? It has “a plantable flower seed-embedded box”? That could be fun and interesting. Plant it and see what comes up. Does it say what kind of seeds, or is it a random sampling?

      Probably for vanilla orchids.

I believe it’s Anya’s Garden that does t hat too—wildflower seeds are mixed with the paper fibers before they are pressed and dried. All you need to do is soak the “box” in warm water for a while and then cover it lightly with dirt in your flowerbed. It’s a cool idea.

I agree, that is totally cool! I almost want to buy them…..just for that. I really believe I should love the juice first though, otherwise it is an expensive “plant”.

yeah, you’d be better off with a $1.79 packet of wildflower seeds from the Home Depot. Just wear a beautiful perfume to the garden, plant your seeds and say ” I plant these seeds in honor of _____ and when I pick them, I’ll think of this fragrance.” and there ya go. Think of all the $$ saved!

Now that is a sweet idea. Gardeing in that way. I LIKE it! And the $$ saved.

It is cute. I’d forget to plant it though.

I love the idea! Cargo did this for one of its lipstick lines, and I think Pangea Organics does it, too. It does sound like a fun “extra.”

I like the sound of this :)
I love vanilla, will it be in the UK?

What a fun idea and a very delicious-sounding perfume. Any idea how much it is? It does sound like a very giftable fragrance. :)

What’s with this DPE free benzoin?
At first it seemed DPE might be a solvent in benzoin extraction, from which traces of PDE may remain in the final resin.

But after a bit of googling, DPE most likely stands for diphenyl ether or diphenylethylene which are somewhat related to benzoin and possibly used in benzoin synthesis.

Is this just a fancy way to say a specific grade of synthetic benzoin?

It is a natural organic perfume, so presumably it is not a synthetic benzoin.

Just from the context, I would have assumed (as you did) that it meant a natural benzoin developed without the use of harmful solvents, but I honestly don’t know.
