Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon by Nina Ricci ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 4 November 2010 20 Comments

Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon by Nina Ricci

Nina Ricci will launch Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon in March of next year. The new fragrance for women is a limited edition flanker to 2009's Ricci Ricci:

She is modern, mischievous and audacious. Who is she? She is Dancing Ribbon, the first Ricci Ricci Limited Edition. Self-confident, playful and dreamy, our heroine plays with her ribbon, which entwines and surprises her.

The ribbon, no longer pink but flame red, adorns both the bottle and its box. Inspired by pop art, reminiscent of Bert Stern’s famous photo session with Marilyn Monroe, The Last Sitting, this poppy-red ribbon lends its signature to the ad visual, like a dash of fluorescent highlighter. A visual that once again features Jessica Stam playing hide-and-seek on the rooftops of Paris.

Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon was developed by perfumers Aurélien Guichard and Jacques Huclier; the notes include raspberry, rhubarb, ginger, Beauty of the Night, tuberose, Centifolia rose, patchouli and sandalwood.

Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon by Nina Ricci will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (via ninaricci, with thanks to Jacob for the link!)

Same here. Too bad it won’t be out until March. :( I never tried Ricci Ricci. Is it available in the US?

I don’t think I have ever seen Ricci Ricci here, only Nina & it’s many flankers. Or I’ve forgotten (?)

Why not be honest, and say the red ribbon is inspired by a Christmas season bow, (and makes the bottle into a self-wrapped gift)?

I missed that when I originally skimmed the article. It also comes out after Valentine’s day, for which the red ribbon also would work perfectly. A double failure of timing.

Maybe they’ll get it out, within a week or two before the deadline for U.S. Citizens and residents to file their income tax forms. Just the moment when people feel like a special little luxury purchase.

Love the bottle….know nothing about Ricci fragrances. Don’t think I’ve ever sniffed a single one.

You’d really like it, I think. But I haven’t smelled it in quite a while, so I’m sure just like with everything else, you’d want to find an older bottle. Not to enable or anything….

I would definitely find an older bottle. This was one of my loves when I was about 19 or so and I sought it out recently ( I am 36) and, to me, it smelled very different to my memory of it. The older stuff, particularly the bottle my grandmother had from the ’50’s, smelled fantastic, disinctive and romantic. The new stuff smelled ‘meh’ to me.

From what I remember smelling it about 20 Years ago, it was a romantic floral, but I am sure it’s been re-done. Not bad, but not something I would of bought.

Hello! Ricci Ricci is available here in Argentina. People seem to like it very much (not a mega hit, but after the launch I saw/smelled several people with it, more than on a regular launch)

For me the regular Nina was a surprise, as it was a lot more woody than I expected, given the ads and the bottle design. (and I LOVE the drydown, very dry and with cedar-pencil shavings)

So Ricci Ricci was a surprise too… My thought upon smelling it “This is what I imagined Nina would smell like, given the candy apple bottle”. :-)

I am looking forward to this flanker, perhaps it is a bit less sweet than the original Ricci Ricci, and therefore.. more giftable :-D

I agree the bottle is gorgeous. What is Beauty of the Night, though?

It’s a heavily perfumed flower more commonly known as the four o’clock, because unlike most flowers, it doesn’t release its scent in the morning, but in the late afternoon. Apparently it’s really easy to grow, but in usually warmer climates than mine (I live in Canada): I used to grow night-scented stock instead.

ooh, now i am interested — if beauty of the night smells anything like its namesake in portuguese (dama da noite) then it’d be really rather fabulous, although i can only imagine a heavy, sensual note that i’m not sure is very ricci, really. but i’ll at least try it if it ever makes it down here to new zealand .. sigh ..

Thank you for answering that question as I too was also wondering what Beauty of the Night was.

Could do without the raspberry, but the rest sounds good. It seems like a more sultry perfume than say, L’Air Du Temps.

I absolutely love that bottle! I agree with everyone else though that it should come out at Christmas time or at least Valentine’s Day. I’m anxious to smell it though.
