Jack Black JB ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 7 October 2010 15 Comments

JB Eau de Parfum by Jack Black

Men's grooming line Jack Black will launch JB, a new fragrance for men, this month under the tag line "Seek truth, not trends".

JB is a spicy woody aromatic, and was developed by perfumer Jerome Epinette. The notes include tangerine, black pepper, peppermint, elemi, geranium, eucalyptus, tiger orchid, papyrus, black amber and blond woods.

Jack Black JB will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $70, and will be exclusive to Nordstrom for a brief period after it launches. (via wwd)

I’m very interested in trying this!! Although simple in structure, I have really enjoyed some of the other Jack Black fragrances, and this one is created by the same perfumer that created most of the Byredo line.

I thought the Liquid Magnetism set was good too, and yes, that’s Jerome Epinette.

I agree; although made for men, I use their shaving lotion and sun screen.

Oh, I haven’t tried their skin things, good to know.

This was already in the Nordstroms near my office a few weeks ago. It is very well done in my opinion.

This line isn’t by Jack Black the actor/comedian is it? Cause that would just be weird. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t find him to be synonymous with gentlemen’s grooming. 😉

      Appears not to be affiliated.

I know, it creeped me out too. (Nacho Libre does scent? Uh-uh, no way.)

But this sounds rather nice, I think.

I was just being silly Mals 🙂 This line does seem to be very nice. I almost got some body wash & stuff for my husband @ Sephora, but went with Anthony Logistics [I think it’s called] instead. I’ll probably try some of the JB products at some point.

That’s so funny, V. I thought that the first time I saw the line at Sephora. “Jack Black? Really?” I said to the SA. 🙂 Luckily that was cleared up for me. I think it would be sort of funny if he *did* have his own line, though.

I had the same thought, particularly because the actor/singer calls himself “JB” when in league with Kyle Gass (“KG”) as Tenacious D. It made me wonder what a KG perfume would consist of. Certainly the bottle would be shaped like the Pick of Destiny.

A ‘stand alone’ fragrance? Funny, this feels creepy. Somehow, I don’t associate their brand with anything remotely premium or well designed.
This whole exercise feels like an AVON, Mary Kay, Amway or some other network or multi-level marketing brand’s generic product. I have a feeling it all started out as a re-badged set of Avon products. I can see it on a bumper sticker…”call me for info on JB!”
Well, I’ve got to give it to them – co-opting a famous American actor’s name and having a logo/brand designed after a BBQ sauce label has secured quite the authentic and original following!
