Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 October 2010 31 Comments

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar perfume

Pacifica has launched Indian Coconut Nectar:

Inspired by travels to faraway destinations, this warm fragrance is at once sensuous and fresh. It blends coconut, delicate vanilla, and creamy vetiver with exotic floral accords of ambrosia to leave skin beautifully scented.

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar is available now at Sephora, in 30 ml Spray Perfume ($22), 10 ml Perfume Roll-on ($12) and 10 g solid perfume ($9). (via sephora)

It does, and I like the packaging on this one.

        Agree on both counts!

And (sadly) I am disagreeing on both counts… I usually like Pacifica’s packaging, but not here. I think it’s all the white space on this one.

Vetiver, vanilla and coconut, as a combinatin, sounds like my personal nightmare. You watch, it’ll probably be gorgeous on somebody other than me…

and happily, i agree on both counts

Hmmm…. doesn’t sound like it smells like curry, at least. The miracle would be if they could make it not too sweet.

I haven’t smelled a Pacifica scent yet that was too sweet, so I’m thinking that this one might have a shot!

I know, it could be great stuff. I am always recommending their scents in the cheap and cheerful category.

Also every time I see the word “fresh” I cringe, although I get that they often mean “young” or “breezy” or “springy” or whatever, and not the Tampax fresh accord.

So true! Fresh has become a negative word for me, at least in perfume.

It’s too bad, because I seem to remember many perfumes I love falling into the fresh category in Michael Edward’s classification. It’s a shame that contemporary marketing has ruined the word. I am also afraid of “soft”. SAs who don’t know me always use that one: “It’s not an old-fashioned floral – it’s very modern and fresh and soft.” And I think: Oh no!

Oh me too, on ‘soft’. I get that from SAs ALL THE TIME. And I feel like yelling ‘What does that MEAN?!!!’

I wonder if this will smell similar to Azuree Soleil which had a great earthiness under the beachy coconut…

Well, I’ll sample this at least – I like a few of the Pacifica. They are a cheap thrill. But reading the description makes me want to eat some of that good old “Ambrosia” salad: jello, cocount flakes, whipped cream, marshmallows, angel food cake, fruit salad…… Yummy food memories.

Coconut makes me cringe, but they sell these at my grocery store, so I can just pass judgment on it in between buying cheese and being ignored at the meat counter.

Pretty cool store…you can get a couple of pork chops and try a new scent?
I wonder if this will smell like Coppertone.

Both the Whole Foods and New Seasons in town have the whole line. They’re expensive stores when it comes to buying groceries, but do have Pacifica, I’ll give them that. 🙂

If it smelled like Coppertone I’d like that. I’m afraid it will be more along the lines of Hawaiian Tropic. (shudders)

Cannot wait until they get this at my Sephora! I just bought the Lotus Garden recently – I never sniffed it because I thought it would be too “aquatic”, but instead it smells almost like Jardin sur le Nil, for much cheaper!

Then I will need to try this(lotus garden). I have the apres la mousseaus (???garden after monsoon) and am loving it more each time I wear it. I dont usually LOVE summer fragrances. I use them to keep me awake until it gets cool enough to get back to my ambers! But I could really do with another air-conditioner type – to avoid the ‘fresh’ word!

I think it smells like Jardin sur le Nil too. I carry the solid around with me.

Wooooooh, just had a bit of a headrush there, as this could have been made just for me, but then I got to the bit where it says it’s available in Sephora, and there’s not one of those around these parts, and they don’t have worldwide shipping on their website either. . . sigh!

Thanks, just tried their own site, but struck out again, as they don’t ship outside the US and Canada. Will just have to add this to my already lengthy list of items to pick up when I visit the US again. At this rate, I’ll have to bring two empty bags with me so that I’ll have room for everything.

This sounds really interesting… will have to visit Sephora and see. I’ve been looking for a coconut scent.

Have you tried Laura Mercier’s Coconut Vanilla? (not exact name but close) It’s pretty good, for a coconut. I esp. love the body scrub and the body creme. It’s really good; I think you’d like it.
