Note: I only read Allure, so many thanks to Kevin for all the rest!
I received my copy of Bizarre in the mail yesterday and noticed it’s a combo June/July issue! Hope this isn’t the beginning of the end…
Ha ha…I mean Bazaar, of course!!!!! 😉
I noticed that too with this issue of Bazaar…a bad omen.
It’s amazing how many fashion & beauty magazines are still in business, when you think about it. I’m still shocked that Gourmet folded…would have thought it had broader appeal than many fashion mags.
I loved Gourmet!!! Didn’t like the replacement they sent – Bon Appetit. Food and Wine is a good one, though.
I never liked BA as well either, was surprised Gourmet went first. Then again, I let my subscription lapse years ago…and I guess I was not alone.
I just received the mag as well and didn’t even recognize Heigel. I had to do a double take – I see now they are trying to channel Grace Kelly. Very prim & proper cover but I liked it.
I will have to go look for a shot of the cover, I haven’t seen it yet.
Maybe I’m crazy, but didn’t Frederic Malle used to write a fragrance column for Allure? Whatever happened to that?
I probably wasn’t paying close enough attention — I think that was occasional & not really a monthly column? Anyway, he had a 1 page feature back in January, and I think that’s it so far for this year.
Oops, sorry, make that February.
Hmm, maybe it was an online only thing. I remember he had a tidbit on how to smell flirty and recommended spritzing Fracas all over. Which seemed odd because Fracas never really struck me as flirty or as a scent you could spray all over your person without assaulting the whole block.
But I have noticed that Allure loves them some Editions de Parfums so maybe it was an advertising/promotional article…
Oh no, they were in the mag too…lots of them. Just that I didn’t think they were a regular monthly thing, but admittedly I was not paying much attention.
I think the Allure columns by “professionals” are all occasional pieces — the makeup guy, the hair guy, and Malle appear every couple of months. I’m always amused that Allure seems to allow them to plug exactly ONE of their own products per column!
Thanks, that makes sense. And yes — noticed that about the FM pieces!!
In the June issue of InStyle, Lauren Conrad (formerly of The Hills) names Michael Kors as her “go-to summer fragrance” (Beauty Talk); niche perfumer Sarah Horowitz-Thran gives advice on how to remove scent when you’ve over-applied (a short called Overdid it? Try the do-over); Prada L’eau Ambree body powder is featured in a short called Appeal to All 5 Senses; and on the last page (On My Mind) Beyonce says her signature scent is (surprise!) her own fragrance, Heat.
Scent strips: Calvin Klein Euphoria for Men; Giorgio Armani Aqua di Gio for Men
Funny how the scent strips in both Vogue and InStyle are for men’s fragrances.
Thanks so much!
And yeah — goes to prove that women buy most men’s fragrances, I guess!
