oohhh that Diptyque coffret is a drool inducer! But it’s too late! I happen to know I’m getting Bois des Iles extrait, and I’m pretty darn pleased about it!
Yeah, I’m going to have a hard time feeling sorry for you 🙂
Wow! Happy Mother’s Day indeed!
LOL thank you! did I mention that I was incredibly sick for 9 months, had 27 hours of back labor and then an emergency C-section?….things did not go well for me—-so frankly, even 18 years later: I DESERVE BOIS DES ILES EXTRAIT
More like: J should give you that on HER birthday! LOL 😉
OOO! you are soooo right…..woohoo I sense another perfume getting occasion in a few months! B-day in August…so about mid July I can start mentioning my difficult pregnancy and labor….
I was born in May on my mother’s birthday and Mother’s day, and thus stole both her holidays at one go. Since she helped me through my own 25-hour nightmare labour with my daughter a few years ago, I have felt particularly bad about usurping both her days. (Our conversations during my delivery were sort of funny. She kept going: “Oh damn. I remember this part. You can do it, hon.” And I kept saying: “Mom, I’m sorry. I’ve just realized I’m really, really sorry.”) I should hunt down some vintage Boucheron parfum or something for her this year…..
Hey I guess that should read “conversations during my daughter’s delivery”, because it otherwise sounds like I came out of the womb talking. Which is close to the truth, really. Yeah, Mom, I’m really sorry for a lot of things, I guess…
I missed this somehow… but you could be describing my labor with Bookworm: six months of nausea, 30 hours of backbreaking labor pains, and preeclampsia. Followed by C-section and beautiful baby girl. (Who had her hand up next to her face as she was born. Ouch.)
This year, Mother’s Day and my anniversary fall on the same day.
(WHAT were we thinking?) I have picked out a few things for my goody bag: a split of LeLong Pour Femme, a small bottle of Hanae Mori’s sparkly-green-jasmine Haute Couture, and another small bottle of Ines de la Fressange.
Presents for my mother and MIL? Tougher.
I’m not far off… ours is the 5th. 5/5/05, actually, wasn’t that nice? It wasn’t even planned, that’s just the day the JotP had open. Pretty easy to remember.
So, do you wear Chanel No 5 for your anniversary?
Heehee, I haven’t, but maybe I should? Except the spousal unit doesn’t much care for that one.
Too bad he doesn’t love it. Chanel No. 5 was launched on May 5, 1921. Keeping up with my perfume history over here. LOL 🙂
Awwww. Congrats! (This year will be our 18th. I can’t be that old, can I?)
Wow, happy 18th to you! I can’t even imagine. And no, if I remember correctly, you are not far from my age…just got married quite young, apparently!
no, of course not…..as it turns out: we all got married at 12. 😉
Happy Anniversary in advance!
I”ll bet the Philosykos lotion is great.
I wonder if it’s more like the top notes or the drydown. Philosykos opens (and stays much too long for my taste) with loads of sweet coconut & fig, before (much later) finally drying down to a lovely dry pale green milky fig. If it wasn’t obvious, I hate the open, love the drydown.
The lotion and the shower gel are both lovely but I must add that in terms of scent, they differ slightly from the edt. Maybe Diptyque’s intent was to compliment but not mimic the juice? Both strike me as more crisp and green, less sweet. It all layers together very well.
Oh thanks, sounds like I need to check out that lotion!
I absolutely agree with your take on the lotion: it’s definitely greener and less sweet that the Philosykos EDT. It reminds me of scrambling through bushes as a kid, all crushed leaves and twigs. It also has considerable tenacity, and lasts all day long on my arms.
I’ve only tried the soap, which is wonderful.
Loving the Diptyque and Jo Malone coffrets!
I’d take either!
Yes, I’d be happy with those!
Instead, I’m getting Le Temps d’Une Fete — I have a sample, and I neeeeeed a bottle.
Oh, yes, you neeeed a bottle of Le Temps! (Thank goodness for those 1oz bottles. They’re very reasonably priced.)
I wish I could convince my cats to get me a mother’s day gift. Maybe I can teach them to use the phone and order me up a bottle of Bois Blond. Of course, they’re shifty little animals, so they’d probably charge it to my credit card anyway.
LOL…good luck with that!
I’ve been trying not to take advantage of the free shipping code at Luckyscent, but maybe if whatever I buy is “from the cats”… Hmm…
I have to admit, in years past I bought my mom perfume because I knew she would just give it back to me. You can only do that for long, though.
Since cats have many fine qualities, but lack opposable thumbs (necessary for typing and finding a credit card) I think you’ll have to shop for yourself for them. I’m sure they want you to have a bottle. Of course they do. Cats are sensitive and generous creatures who want us to be happy.
I know for a fact that kitty-babies definitely want to buy me perfume for Mother’s Day. The question is whether their “Dad” will make that happen.
And on the off, off chance my son is reading this, a bottle of Balenciaga’s Paris would not be amiss for your loving mother whose stretch marks are still visible and whose back still hurts….
don’t forget to mention all the vomitting….and swollen feet….
LOL…another good luck with that!
Lovely ideas, and I know that the wording is correct in the last suggestion, but for the others: “for the mom WHO . . . ” Who, who, who, never that, as I think most readers have human moms. Sorry, this is a mistake I notice more and more people make while speaking, and I hate to see it seep into writing as well.
Oh dear. That isn’t my pet peeve, but I’ve plenty of my own so no need to apologize. I did get 3 out of 5 right!
My goodness. That’s really not a mistake in relative pronoun usage. Note: “While some writers recommend reserving *that* for nonhuman antecedents, this does not reflect majority use. Examples can be found in Shakespeare (the man that hath no music in himself), Mark Twain (The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg), and Ira Gershwin (The Man that Got Away).”
Thanks Joe, I didn’t even bother to investigate.
My cat Buster says I have too much perfume and will probably give me a bag of Greenies for Mother’s Day.
I think I need to go to Lush soon – that cream sounds pretty yummy.
I should let you know that Diptyque’s ecommerce site is now up and running. The Philosykos coffret can be found there too. 🙂
