The Body Shop White Musk Sport ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 April 2010 20 Comments

The Body Shop White Musk Sport

This month, The Body Shop launches White Musk Sport, a new fragrance for 'active' men. White Musk Sport is a variation on their 2007 fragrance White Musk for men.

White Musk Sport was developed by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou; the notes feature grapefruit, lemon, rosemary, geranium, orange blossom, white leather and amber.

The Body Shop White Musk Sport will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via europapress.es, cosmoty.de)

Why do I shudder just from seeing the word “Sport” on a bottle? Instinctive negative reaction…..and I hate the containers….looks like cheap toiletry and hair care products from Walgreens. But it’s for men and maybe this is “manly” packaging.

It’s not usually a good sign. Burberry Sport is pretty nice though!

      The packaging is very Avon-looking.

Why are there never frags for “inactive” men?

“Couch Potato” and it could have notes like leather (from the couch) , plastic (the remote control), and a slight undertone of BBQ (from the empty BBQ flavored chip bag lying on the coffeetable)

Why oh why? TBS White Musk was a special little thing back when it was just a perfume oil (back in the days when the dozens of oils glowed in those apothecary bottles at the center of the store). Then we went to the EDT version, which was fine. But the scent has been ruined by the horrible plasticky smelling body products, flankers that I am convinced have absolutely no reason for existing, etc. The men’s line is laughable – since when was the original white musk gendered, anyway? And now the SPORT. WTH happened to TBS?

      They got bought out?

The WM has been gendered since 2007 I guess…and have never smelled the men’s so don’t know what they did to make it more ‘manly’.

Eek. I cringed just reading the title of this. TBS’s penchant for discontinuing all that I loved is just uncanny. I don’t even shop with them unless I need more white musk since I’m afraid of falling in love with something else destined to be yanked from their product line. :( And they don’t even feel like TBS anyway, though I can’t exactly put my finger on why.

And lol, Daisy. The CEO is definitely *not* the sport type and says he loves Divine L’Homme de Coeur “because it just smells ‘smart and sexy in an aloof and brainy sort of way.'” I always joke that a perfume smelling of new electronics would be the perfect aphrodisiac to get his attention rather than something with ‘sport’ in the name. Electronics with an undercurrent of new car and a hint of coffee would pretty much cover it.

Lush, to me, feels like TBS used to. But they discontinue stuff too.

Thanks for reminding me, Robin. I really need to put together a Lush order. I still haven’t tried their products yet and am quite excited to do so.

They’re not cheap though…I guess that’s the diff w/ “early Body Shop”. But they’re not outrageous either.

Ohhh, I can’t wait to go check this out.

I always like creeping through The Body Shop and smelling all the mens fragrances. They always have such a nice, fresh, natural smell rather than that typical “mens cologne” scent.

I’ve never actually bought any, but grabbed a few different free sample vials over the years, with white musk being one of them. It was such a love/hate feeling. Even the slightest bit gave me a headache, but I was strangely turned on by it haha.
