I take liberties with social morals all the time without the benefit of being well bred and having a less than stellar education. But that’s just how I roll.
Yeah. But she (the mythical she, not the model) gets that house, LOL…
LOL Good point!
to me this far exceeds the weirdness of the loewe ad. 🙂 as an aside, has anyone sniffed this fragrance?
Sounds pretty average:

Oh, I do hope it is a stunning frag. I miss the days of Givenchy putting out frags I really wanted to have. Though I didn’t get the impression it was all that ground-breaking from the notes. But that doesn’t necessarily mean too much. Aside from the harvest collections, I haven’t wanted to try much from them lately, which makes me a bit sad given my love for some of their frags in my younger days.
Givenchy is very firmly mainstream in terms of the fragrances these days…wish the fragrances really did reflect the brand’s DNA.
Aristocratic and well-bred on the same sentence always makes me suspect…. usually it is aristocratic slang for “inbred” ! 🙂
Is this concept snob or what?
Sorry but I cringe at the pretensions of the aristocrat-wannabes.
True aristocrats (and I’ve met my share) are much much low profile and often spend more time trying to downplay their wealth and moral flexibilities than not.
And the glimpse of breastbones on that girl! 🙁
I have not smelled the frag yet. And sorry for the rant…
It is interesting how many fragrance companies assume that the only way to sell fragrance is either in the aspirational sense (oh, I’ll be just like this rich girl!) or via sex (oh, men will want me!).
I think that might work in some cases, but IMHO it’s another casualty of the “too many new fragrances” problem: now it just seems dull & unimaginative because it’s so overused.
You are right… it has become a cliche, that is maybe why it rings so hollow…
On the other hand and still talking about marketing strategies.. I am a sucker for celebrity endorsements… I fall for them everytime like a child!
Once I heard Cindy Crawford proclaim that her luscious locks were the result of using Phyto shampoos and conditioners.. when I realized that the “hard to get” french shampoos were available at my local pharmacy, a shopping frenzy ensued! 🙂 I swear I won´t fall again, but they get me everytime!
That is so funny! I don’t know why I’m immune. (But there was a Phyto shampoo I liked — one with egg yolks & rum)
Notice she’s wearing a swimsuit under the cloak, not what the Queen would do, I imagine!
The scent is OK, a kind of insipid chypre. At least it’s not a fruity floral.
*Is* that a swimsuit?? I couldn’t decide what it was.
It’s just as likely to be a bodysuit, but whatever it is, it certainly doesn’t look very upper-crust! I suppose clothes would have caused too much bulk under the aristocratic cloak.
Agree — it just looks weird. Which is cool, perhaps, if the fragrance matched.
see this must show how low-bred and uneducated I really am because I had no idea that being well-bred and educated was a carte blanche for immorality and lack of social conscience! silly me! Oh and I couldn’t care less for the “clean lines, blah blah blah” of their couture cape—it’s just ridiculous looking with a bodysuit (??) trotting around in the sunshine of the park. This annoys our non-aristocratic self.
One should never annoy The Queen.
only too true….especially if the Queen is Cranky.
… then the mother pours the Diorling in her mouth, gargles and spits it in her son’s mouth. The son opens his mouth, and a few drops fall on the dog, who has been decked out in rollerskates. The dog leaps up, and the two cans of Axe spray strapped to his back propel him across the room into a pyramid of neatly stacked bottles Georgio Beverly Hills and Nombre Noir which come crashing down leaving a beautiful puddle which the family gathers around and ignites with a sparkler before taking a bow.
The talent agent looks up and says, “Nice act. So what do you call it?”
The mother looks him in the eye, takes a swig from a bottle of Amouage Lyric, and says…
“The Aristocrats!”
Nice one!
Thanks! That’s the cleaned up version… this is a family message board, so I couldn’t include what the dad did with a bottle of Ysatis.
Excellent! And thanks for keeping it clean 😉
I appreciated that 🙂
Yes – how can perfume be so sublime and the ads for them be so dumb? Well, nevermind. It’s obvious the people behind these fiascos have no clue. They *are* unintentionally funny though!
The weirdness of the cloak has been covered in an earlier review of the fragrance. At least she’s not semi-nude like most ads! The juice is supposed to evoke a feeling of being vintage and in some ways it does. It’s not a ground-breaker but it’s not bad. It IS a step in a slightly different direction for the brand. The bottle is attractive enough with a painted on label rather than a paper one, but the lid is mysteriously not in keeping with the theme. The vertical striations make me think of another brand and that it’s been done before.
Thanks, glad to hear it’s at least “not bad”!
I thought this might be an entry in the Prix Eaux Fuax contest as it is exceedingly silly and pretentious. I would still be interested in trying this fragrance because the house of Givenchy definitely has some winners. Organza is just wonderful, but that was about the last truly great fragrance from this line.
And I would say Organza Indecence!
Tested the scent earlier today, or rather sniffed the bottle and promptly replaced it on the shelf. Didn’t even want to spray the scent on a ‘mouillette’. Too sweet, too nothing.
Ack, that’s a shame.
I have the sudden urge to buy that girl a bucket of chicken.
LOL…yeah, she could use some.
