It will be interesting to see what kind of customer base this will attract. Will only Canturi customers buy it? I don’t know if it will have great name-brand “aspirational” appeal. Canturi and Cerrone may be the Aussie equivalent of Cartier or Bvlgari, but I’m not sure if they are as well known. Personally, the only thing I know about Mr Canturi is that he made Satine’s necklace for Moulin Rouge!
/marketing ramble.
You know more about Canturi than I do — I had never heard of them until this perfume. It would not be the first brand to be best known for their perfume though!
Hahahahaha… this ad is fabulously over-the-top! Jewelry and fragrance that “captures the ‘essence of Cubism'” – SERIOUSLY? I’m going to curb my urge to go all nerdy here, but let’s just say there is nothing about either the jewelry or the bottle that achieves anything close to the “essence of Cubism”, which is all about time & spatial perception. Now, I’d be interested to see if the fragrance could achieve something like that . Hermès Voyage plays with time and space rather effectively, I’d say, so I suppose it’s possible.
Oh, interesting! I took it entirely another way & appreciated how laid back it was: no sex, no ridiculous claims about what the scent will do for you, etc.
Yeah, me too.
Interesting Italian migrant Australian accent he has has.
Since the ‘Cubism’ reference was over my head anyway, I really liked this commercial for it’s low key, simple vibe. And I really like that bottle. 🙂
same here! (and if the bottle came along with some complimentary diamonds..)
ha That would work. 😉 [I like that shot where they superimpose his facted gems onto the perfume bottle. Pretty.]
LOL!
Love the bottle. Will try to check it out in person next week although I suspect the Canturi store will be one of those places I feel uncomfortable in because they know and I know I’m not going to buy anything!
Oh, could be!
Tried this at Sniffa and actually bought a bottle. It goes on a bit loud and over the top but as it dries down I really like it but I like chypres. The spice aspects go nicely with the floral aspects and the base seems to hold everything together for quite a while. Good sillage as well. It’s not a flowing demure fragrance but more of a sparkly, sunny, warm fragrance. A little ADD like it’s creator. Who, BTW, was pretty adorable, at about 5’2″ in boots with his wife at Bergdorf and as excited as a puppy in a playground.
Glad to hear it’s nice, thanks!
