Posted by Robin on 25 March 2010 12 Comments

Clean Summer Linen

Clean will launch Clean Summer Linen, a new summer variation on their original Clean fragrance, in April.

Inspired by the hot sunny days of summer where clean warm breezes mingle with the sun-ripened citrus of summer.

The notes feature bergamot, limoncello and mirabelle plum.

Clean Summer Linen will be available in 50 ml Eau Fraîche will retail for $52 at Sephora in April. (via cosmeticsmag)

Here’s hoping this ends up on the sample option list. It isn’t anything I’d want to own in large doses (really, I get enough of laundry no matter the time of year) but I would like to give it a try. I do like the original Clean. It was just too daunting to keep up with all the flankers. The Clean hair mist is awesome, too.

I’m surprised they haven’t started doing smaller bottles like everyone else.

I’m not loving the Clean line at all, but there is something about the citrus and plum that appeals to me. I just feel like Clean is really overpriced for what it is. If they were $15 or $20 a pop I might see them as being a little fun, although maybe that still wouldn’t convince me to buy them.

They’re really expensive — still surprises me how well they do at Sephora!

These ARE expensive, and to my nose have a harsh note. Clean Ultimate is the only one I wear, and I find I actually prefer the hair mist and body lotion, which are plenty strong enough. I like the concept – it’s the execution that I take issue with!

I don’t even like the concept, LOL….just not me.

I bought a gift set from QVC, my first and only QVC purchase so far, that has the full size original Clean EDP (?), a full size bottle of the hair mist and a *huge* bottle of the body wash which is surprisingly good quality for about $50. They have a few other sets in a similar price range and in varying fragrances from the line, if anyone’s been on the fence about buying a Clean item but doesn’t want to pay through the nose for it. I completely get that because I think they are quite overpriced, so when I found the QVC set after just pricing the hair mist (close to $40 alone) I had to jump on it since I like having some of the Clean products in my collection and already blew through a couple decants of the stuff. 🙂

I also get enough laundry scent with all the laundry I do, but like ms. kitty, I find the bergamot/limoncello/plum notes interesting. OTOH, it could be like limoncello spiced with prune juice. I bought a bottle of the original Clean when it first came out and I think it was in the $90 range for the EdP. Pricey. I think if I really wanted a “clean” fragrance I would either go for a Demeter think like Fresh Laundry or, on the other end of the price range, VC&A Muguet Blanc. I have started to be able to detect the LOtV notes in household cleaning products and my muguet fragrances are starting to lose their appeal. I’m hoping my bottle of vintage Diorissimo will rectify that.

Totally off the subject. I saw Prada Infusion De’ Tubereuse and Infusion De” Vetiver in the store yesterday at Nordstrom. It just came in and I loved them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
