Diptyque Vetyverio

Diptyque will launch Vetyverio, a new unisex fragrance featuring "a blend of masculine vetiver and feminine flower bouquets", in May.

The notes include mandarin, grapefruit, lemon, bergamot, ylang ylang, Turkish rose, geranium, vetiver, carrot seeds, nutmeg, clove and cedar.

Diptyque Vetyverio will be available in 50 and 100 ml, concentration unknown. (via cosmeticworld)

Vetiver doesn’t really call to me so I sighed with relief when I dragged my eyes off the bottle and saw the name….whew! vetiver…no lemming….wait…..turkish rose? nutmeg? clove? ….I need to concentrate on vetiver (sneezing) and graprefruit (possible cat pee) and IGNORE this!

How does a grapefruit smell like urine to you?

I love the smell of real grapefruit but it turns sour and urinous or sweaty (take your pick: neither one is very appealing) on my skin (usually) —-that said: I’m willing to try any new Diptyque. And I was very happily surprised by Pamplemousse Rose…probably headed for an FB there….so it is possible for a grapefruit note to be friendly with me.

Many people find grapefruit fragrances urinous. I can usually wear them, but Guerlain Pamplelune smells like cat pee on me.

This sounds like a vetiver I could be very happy with in the coming months…

Wow, vetiver seems like such a natural for them, given the feel of the rest of their line, that I’m surprised they don’t have one already! Sounds very good, and perfect for summer! Yay!

I’m surprised they don’t have one too. But also keeping in mind how much I disliked Lierre — hope this one is better!

This sounds like a big threat to my current favorite vetiver, Annick Goutal’s. Can’t wait to try it!!!

I’m always happy to try another vetiver! A mix of masculine and feminine sounds good too.

Yes, although to me most vetivers are unisex…maybe not everyone agrees with that though.

    Sounds delicious to me.

R, can you name some good floral vetivers? I love No 19, and also want to try Guerlain Vetiver pour Elle & Encre Noir pour Elle.

Of course there is some vetiver in many feminine scents, but that really showcase vetiver, no, can’t think of much besides what you mentioned (and I haven’t even tried that Lalique, and didn’t think that much of the Guerlain).

Joe, to me the white musk is so strong in Guerlain Vetiver pour Elle that one cannot fully appreciate the floral aspect. I do like to wear it in the summer, though. The AG Vetiver (my favorite) is more like what I expected from the idea of a floral vetiver, although there is still plenty of room for more flowers.

Encre Noir pour Elle is really lovely in my opinion. Deep and tarry. I wouldn’t have said floral. Not keen on the Guerlain – it seems to smell so much like wee (human) to me. I love Ormonde Jayne’s Tiare – not sure if it actually has vetiver in it, but it definitely dries down to a vetiver velvetyness, with just a strange hint of rubber. Just wish it was more powerful.

For what’s it’s worth, the Guerlain didn’t have enough vetiver for my linking.

There can never be too many vetiver scents, IMO. Mind you, they tend to be a bit similar, but I’d have to say I’d pick Vetiver Tonka just before Sycomore just before Encre Noir. Or maybe Sel de Vetiver. Or Grey Vetiver. Or Story. Hmm. So I’m excited! But grapefruit? Pamplelune isn’t cats on me – it’s full-blown person pee. It’s REAL Old Lady perfume, in the worst way.

LOL! Happily, I have enough vetivers to suit me, and other than Tam Dao, the Diptyque line hasn’t worked for me in the least. Now, if someone could just remind me if I’m about to pay for a sample anyway…that would be good. 😀

Diptyque’s Virgilio, L’Ombre dans L’Eau and Olene are among my summer favorites. I’m very much hoping they’ve done for vetiver what they did for thyme, green and jasmine!

Same for me I must say. Tam Dao and Philosykos amongst them!

Being a vetiver man, there’s no doubt it’s a must have for me (without even trying it!). That’s what Diptyque’s all about. Confidence in their products is what I’ve got!
