Lavanila Vanilla Passion Fruit ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 February 2010 26 Comments

Lavanila Vanilla Passion Fruit

Lavanila has launched Vanilla Passion Fruit, the latest in their series of "healthy" vanilla-based fragrances:

An enticing, limited-edition fragrance that adds a crisp, tropical twist to the Healthy Fragrance collection.

Experience this irresistible, long-wearing blend of passion fruit, guava, and peach nectar steeped in a warm base of sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla. Created by master natural perfumers, this love-attracting scent is uniquely infused with a romantic blend of powerful aphrodisiacs (blue lotus, clary sage, and juniper berry) prized for their seductive properties.

Lavanila Vanilla Passion Fruit is available now at Sephora, $58 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (via sephora)

sounds sweet….and tasty….but very sweet….I’m afraid I’d smell like a bowl of diced fruit with sugar on top!
Might not be quite as sugary as the recently mentioned Costamor Sugarwood though—-which will be popular with the preteen crowd.

Tell me you didn’t buy a bottle outright…

no , no! relax……I got the midwinter sample pack from Luckyscent. Mostly because I was intrigued by the Nez a Nez line that they’ve recently added…..disappointing so far. sigh….but hey money saved, right? Which is good since I’ve already got those 4 bottles of Balsamo della Mecca on the way and once mostly everyone paid for their portions—I ordered a bottle of PG Un Crime Exotique …. apparently, if I’m not actively splitting a bottle (or 4) of perfume, I go into some sort of withdrawal! (perfumium tremens…..)

So did you get your Luckyscent sample pack yet? Did you try the Costamor duo yet? I didn’t think either one was noteworthy in any way….other than a possible toothache from the Sugarwood. (at least it’s appropriately named!)

Ah good…your comment on that thread had me worried. :D I skipped the sample pack and just ordered a smattering of samples. At least it smells like brown sugar, not white, so I didn’t get toothache…but definitely sweet. It reminded me of a Hilde Soliani that I *think* I passed on to you awhile back.

well, you know how my memory is….I’ll have to go back and check, I’ve got a ziploc with “from Boo” on the front. :-)

Hmm, I have a sample of Sugarwood coming with the Gaiac, I hope… I’m still curious to smell it. But yeah, those Nez a Nez didn’t call out to me at all. Not one note of a siren song… I’m still safely tied to the mast.

well, I wish someone had thought to tie me down before I got so close to the buy it button! But I still would have been gazing at them….at least I’ve gotten over that!

I rather liked the Sugarwood. It was comforting on a cool day, and wasn’t so chemically as we think of “sweet” so much now. I don’t mind some sweet things, anyway, as I’m sure you all have figured out.

I think these have done very well at Sephora, and I found them fine if not particularly exciting. Not a bad price, although I don’t really understand if they’re all natural or not.

No, they are not all natural. Which is fine, but I wish they wouldn’t make it seem like they are.

You’ll find “nature identical oils” as a part of their fragrance ingredients, which is code for synthetic. It’s a bit challenging to find on the website, but it is there.

I’m over trying to find an agreeable fruity-gourmand. I can handle a regular gourmand, though. I would be comfortable smelling like sugar cookies – but sugar cookies with lemon icing is too much, lol

Unfortunately this wasn’t a sample option when I placed a Sephora order last week. I would love very much to try it given my love for all things tropical, as well as the generally good reviews Lavanila gets as a brand.

I just got a Lucky Scent sample pack for MFK along with some other hand picked samples and am totally in love with Lumiere Noire Pour Femme. If only it came in a 10ml size as I think I simply must own it… :)

I am CRAZY about passion fruit as a flavor, but not sure about a scent. I know Vero Kern has recently added it to the EDPs of her fragrances, and there are a couple of other passion fruit scents out there, none of which I’ve tried. But I’m VERY curious, cause as I mentioned I LOVE PASSION FRUIT!!!! So, I must get down to Sephora and try this…or purchase it unsniffed?!

In fact, if any of you are ever in Maui, I dare you to venture into Hali’imaile General Store and try their passion fruit (aka lilikoi) lemonade. Guaranteed you will fall down on the floor right then and there and start worshipping passion fruit. It was the beginning of my obsession. Major problem, though. It’s next to impossible to find anything with passion fruit up here in Portland, Maine! ;-)

Mmm, I love the scent and taste of passionfruit, too. Its so unique, at least to my nose. Gorgeous!

I’m hopeless. Just ordered it unsniffed from Sephora. How could I go wrong since I love vanilla and love passion fruit? Besides – Sephora has a great return policy, so if I don’t like it, I’ll just ship it back. ;-) (And no, there isn’t a Sephora nearby – I know, ridiculous! But Sephora has definitely deteriorated over the years, so no big loss.)

It really has deteriorated in some ways. I still say we need a Sephora for grownups.

Am going to Hawaii in July (belated honeymoon) so Karin I’ll take you up on that challenge. I’ve not been partial to LaVanilla, even though vanilla is one of my favorite notes. This one might be worth a sniff though…just in case. Though I do resent their insistance that these “vitamin infused’ fragrances are somehow better for us that ordinary scents…I’ll just take my vitamins in pill form, please.

Sounds like a nice flavour for yoghurt, but I don’t know if I would like to wear it.

Mmm. That would be a fantastic yoghurt flavor and I am now fantasizing what the passionfruit lemonade must taste like… *swoon* I see a project for next summer’s home made lemonade adventures. :)
