Demeter Amber ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 February 2010 21 Comments

Demeter Amber perfume

Demeter has launched Amber, the latest in their Fragrance Library:

Envelop yourself in Demeter's version of this legendary, exotic and alluring scent.

No longer associated with the natural ambergris from the sperm whale, the term 'Amber' loosely describes a quality in perfume that is warm, rich, honey-like and also somewhat powdery, oriental and earthy.

Demeter Amber is available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50) and in matching bath & body products. (via demeterfragrance)

Huh. This seems a little… boring for Demeter? I can’t believe they’ve run out of things to make. I think a bunch of us need to write to them and petition for Warm Cat Fur.

That said, might be good for layering. Although these never last long on me, so maybe not.

Haha, I totally agree with everything you said. Warm Cat Fur (lol) – Check! Layering – Check! (Isn’t layering part of the Demeter MO?)
In addition, if this is any good, it’s sure to become a best seller in the cheap thrills category.

Interesting how many of you want that. You really must write to them!

Can’t wear Demeters …..but I’d sure buy the big size of warm cat fur…and just spray it all around the room…..I love to snuffle my cats. They are so used to it they don’t even wake up when you stick your face right in their belly fur and snuffle.

Another vote for Warm Cat Fur here! I don’t know, I’m an amber fan, so I might be interested to see what Demeter did with it. It’s practically free, after all.

And then Wet Dog in Spring, which would be…challenging…and evocative…

Ha! we have wet dog here at least once a month—on bath day….suave shampoo and dog…

My fav cheap amber is the Auric Blends “Amber” oil roll on. It smells great for $7.00!

My fave cheap amber is the Yves Rocher Voile D’Ambree – I got a purse spray for about $10!

And I just ordered my first Demeters from Overstock.com (lots of Demeters and CSPs and other interesting things there) – getting Gingerale, Wet Garden and Hot Toddy!

Oh, Gingerale! My first Demeter, and still one of the top ten. So accurate, with that carbonated top note, and such giddy fun.

I would love to try Amber but there is no way I’m placing another order: I already own an absurd quantity of Demeters, at least 60. (Nearly all are the half-ounce bottles, or one-ounce sprays that I got on sale, so it’s not as if I spent an insane amount on them, and I wear them all the time. But still.)

Yes, YR perfumes are great value, as half the time they’re on sale!

Demeter did Amber was simply a classic note that we had overlooked-it simply belonged in the Library. But I surely hear everyone on the Warm Cat Fur! Having experience with both warm cat and wet dog, however, I am passing on the wet dog.

One thing about Demeter, is that it smells EXACTLY like the thing it replicates. I have Demeter Wet Garden that I thought would be a dreamy fresh garden, and though you can smell fresh flowers, the distinct smell of wet dirt permeates the whole thing. The same goes with Earthworm. I thought it would be pseudonym, kind of a foresty woody base note- nope, I feel like I’m out fishing with a
    Red Wiggler in hand.
I ordered so many $5 bottles, that they scent me a full size Banana Flambe. It is mouth watering. I use it when I don’t feel like eating. ;)
I can recommend the Ivy though, it’s beautiful, and smells real.
As an Amber lover with Profumum (?) Amber Aurea being a favorite, this sounds like another $5 from me.

Then do let us know how it is! I do like loads of them, but not all of them by any means.

I recently came across the cat fur smell product that so many posted about . It’s not a perfume , it’s more of a room/fabric fragrance – and supposedly the company (Fellisimo) makes a cream that smells of cat paws, to boot. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3363595/Japanese-company-sells-cat-forehead-scented-spray-home.html
