Hotel Costes has launched a follow-up to their cult-favorite signature scent, Costes, which is now referred to as Costes No. 1. The new scent is Costes No. 2 (shown above right), and like the first, was developed by perfumer Olivia Giacobetti.
Costes No. 2 is described as "fresh, sensual and spiced" and as evoking "the enthusiasm of Parisian nights". The notes include benzoin, cinnamon, Turkish rose, geranium, orange blossom, and gaiac wood.
Costes No. 2 by Hotel Costes is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette in a black bakelite bottle*, and can be purchased now at Senteurs d'Ailleurs in Brussels, at Premiere Avenue in France, or directly from Hotel Costes. (quotes via shopping-premiereavenue, additional information via senteursdailleurs)
*The original Costes is sold in bakelite or glass, so glass bottles (and smaller sizes) for No. 2 are perhaps to follow.
Update: see a review of Costes 2.
hmmm, never smelled Costes #1, and I realize that the list of notes above is not all-inclusive…..but what is listed sounds just right to me! Had a thing about cinnamon lately….could be this diet….
I’ve never had any Parisian nights, so I can’t really say if they’d be fresh, sensual and spicy….but I’m pretty sure I’d be enthusiastic…. 😉
You must have missed that on my list Daisy. I own it, but not part of the “cult”. It’s just ok IMHO. 🙂
I don’t really love it either, although it’s really nice. This one sounds like something I might love more…
hmm, I missed it? we’re all getting such extensive lists that it’s hard to process it all …sometimes I can hardly remember what I’ve got much less anyone else has. In fact , I probably have too much perfume….but if you tell my CEO that I said that, i’ll deny it!
the first one was very herbal and a tad too medicinal for me, maybe they will tone it down a little in the second one. sounds nice enough to me!
I don’t usually mind herbal or medicinal, but the first one was soapy in a way that I don’t like — although I sometimes like soapy too. We’ll see, this one sounds promising.
Don’t know about the scents, but I’d sure like to stay there someday!
Me too!
This sounds like it may be worth sampling once it becomes available here.
Yep.
I like the first one in personal fragrance, but love the candle. How can the candle be so much better? This certainly sounds worth sniffing.
It started as a home fragrance (or a hotel fragrance, I guess) — and agree, thought the room spray was better than the personal scent.
