Aquolina Pink Sugar Sensual ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 9 December 2009 72 Comments

Aquolina Pink Sugar SensualAquolina Pink Sugar Sensual

Aquolina has introduced Pink Sugar Sensual, a new flanker to the line's popular Pink Sugar fragrance, which originally launched in 2003.

Pink Sugar Sensual is a gourmand fragrance, and is meant to be a sexier, "more adult" interpretation of the original Pink Sugar. The notes feature blackcurrant, mandarin, bergamot, orange blossom, pink jasmine, tiare, vanilla, toffee and sandalwood.

Aquolina Pink Sugar Sensual is available at Douglas in Italy, in 30, 50 or 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products. (via douglas.it)

Gee, is that woman OK? She looks as if she’s having a seizure from Pink Sugar overload!

They clearly want to be sure their point gets across: this is not your daughter’s Pink Sugar.

Aquolina are Italian, aren’t they? I hate to say it but in Italy if the ads aren’t abstractly high fashion, they’re like this. And ‘like this’ also can be interpreted as the cover of any Italian porn film. Unfortunately, I know this because any time I’ve driven in Italy, the gas stations seem to be happy to display hardcore italian porn where most places display the gum!! Makes for embarrasment if you’re reaching for some gum or candy on autopilot!

Looks like some Photoshop stretching out was done–is it just me, or is the lower half of her body much longer and skinnier than the top half? I would think standing up she would buckle under her own weight. If that was really her body (and it’s not) she would be built like some Amazonian linebacker.

That advert is just ridiculous. Bless those advertising creatives; they’ve never seen a half-naked lady they didn’t like, eh? But really, if you’re going to do gloriously derivative and wholly gratuitous skin ads, please see Alan Cumming for further details.

I have to laugh because her hair on the pink sugar looks like she’s bleeding out from a massive head wound. Why, yes, I *do* watch quite a few crime procedurals, why do you ask?

I definitely will sniff it if I see it though – the original Pink Sugar is what started me on this madness of a perfume addiction. I loved it, the CEO hated it and I started looking for other scents to wear around him. Of course, after a few months of delving in to high end and niche – I couldn’t even stand the smell of Pink Sugar and gave it away.

That is creepy. Reminds me of my early sociology class days, where we watched videos about subliminal messaging in advertising. My favorite was always the skulls in the ice cubes–why would you *want* to make your consumers think of death??

Strangely, I wouldn’t think many of them would be children. I never got the sense that it was marketed even at the teen set, although I couldn’t tell you why. I guess I always just thought it was a foofy scent for adults. I guess I’m so used to not being the targeted demographic that I don’t even notice it when I’m not anymore. :)

Wowza! What an ad! Not something I would expect from the Pink Sugar line, even thought it’s supposed to be “sensual”. The first time I sniffed Pink Sugar I went into a a diabetic coma and started dreaming about pink unicorns eating fluffy pink cotton candy.

I’m now deathly afraid of sniffing Pink Sugar Sensual…..

I went to a Nordstrom fragrance event ystrday and they advertised that this was gonna be there but it wasnt. They said they should be getting it soon. Pink Sugar is my aunts absolute fav and I was really hoping to get this new one for her. Her Bdays in June so I have a while. I hope it shows up b4 then. I didnt get anything! Could u believe it! I went for Artisan Black but it did nothing for me. I much prefer the original. The new Burberrys were boring. Didnt like the Infusion Tuberose at all. The Vetiver was nice but id get Grey Vetiver over it. Didnt care for the summer Burberrys or Issey Miyakes either. I was gonna get the Angel Sunessence bcuz I really really like it but im gonna wait for it to show up cheaper online. Im bad. : )

I’ve enjoyed Pink Sugar for sometime. It’s amusing to see some here portray it as trivial; and to be more interested in dissecting the ad for Aquolina’s newest addition, then in discussing the scent.

It sounds intriguing, and I’ll be giving it a test run. Meanwhile, I just might spray the naysayers with it like a department store perfume attack saleswoman.

Some people above said they liked it, some said they didn’t like it — this is a perfume blog, and we generally get a range of opinions on any scent. We also frequently discuss fragrance advertising. And we can’t discuss the scent as yet: none of us have smelled it.

They’re the exact same scent. Im kinda bumbed. I LOVE Fantasy but the world didnt need another one. It will probably sell like hot cakes bcuz of how ADORED the original is.
