The J’Adore bottle is pretty. Are the bulb atomizers on a longer cord like that as prone to evaporation as the ones that have the bulb attached closer to the sprayer?

I honestly don’t know. I avoid all bulb atomizers like the plague. But would be surprised if this didn’t come with a “regular” cap as well.

oohhh, that J’Adore bottle is lovely! One of my friends is a big fan of J’Adore, wears it frequently—I can’t stand it, but I am the one who gave her that first bottle (a regretted purchase), so I have only myself to blame.—-I’ll have to point that bottle out to her CEO.
Although it is my understanding that all bulb atomizer bottles have an evaporation problem….I guess if it was a signature scent and was used up quickly then you could put colored water in the bottle for display.

Thank you! I’ve never purchased one because, well, you guys said not to. I keep all my fragrances on a shelf in my armoire so they are not exposed to light, and therefore I don’t really care about the bottles. I do have some out on my vanity for show, but they are things I don’t like but have pretty bottles or are empties filled with a cheap but unfortunate EdT from B&BW because when you buy one thing there they give you half the store for “free.”
Daisy – I’ve just started posting, but I’ve been reading this blog and secretly stalking you for months now. I have purchased a few things unsniffed just because you like them, and I’ve enjoyed all of them. Most recently was a 100ml. bottle of Fendi Theorema and I lurve it. Thanks!

ooooooo Theorema….good choice! Have you tried layering it with a bit of Mitsouko yet? If you like the same sort of things that I like; your armoire will soon be overflowing with delicious vanillas, spices , aldehydes and wood puddingy scents …..and your piggy bank can have the intensive care bed right next to my piggy bank….
Have you tried 31 Rue Cambon? SSS Champagne de Bois? Frapin 1270? Anything Amouage? (yeah, it’s scary but I’m a total Amouage ho.)
        Welcome! :-)

I’m trying! I am in love with Guerlain and have full bottles of Jicky, Mitsouko, and Shalimar extraits. And as of this week I am in posession of four sealed bottles of vintage Shalimar. I placed low bids on several of them expecting to be outbid, forgot about a few, and then started getting all these messages that I won! I bought them to use, so I guess I have a lifetime supply now. I will have to try the Theorema with the Mitsouko. I would love to see your fragrance wardrobe. Do you have it on fragrantica or basenotes? Can we pm from these forums?
I love spicy, woodsy, vanilla, musc, carnation, tonka, etc., but I am having a problem with aldehydes. I realize that they are in most things, but the floral ones make me sick. I thought maybe it was the power of suggestion when I looked up several of my headachy fragrances and saw that they are all aldehydic florals and then everything I knew to have aldehydes made me nauseated. Then I wore Broadway Nite (love Roucel) and it started to bother me. I had no prior knowledge that it was aldehydic, so maybe certain ones really do affect me. I don’t know. I’m still trying.
Yes, I think a piggybank ICU ward is a good idea. I’m just hoping my credit card doesn’t burst into flames. ;)

Can I second that Mitsouko/Theorema blend suggestion? I just tried it this weekend and spent the whole time with my nose glued to my arm. And congrats on that eBay haul. What a windfall!

oooooooh, you did GOOD! Lucky girl. Lately all my bidding on ebay does is ensure the sellers of getting higher amounts….grrrr Of course it could also be the Great Finance Deity letting me know it’s time to take a break from spending…. hmmpff.
I have my treasure trove of sniffies listed on my notepad at MUA (daisylu) so please drop by and have a peek.

Norjunma—yeah, it’s good, isn’t it?? I LURVE Mitsy and Theo together….yummmmm. Uh-huh, now try some Rose shea butter and a spritz of Amouage Lyric….mmmmm

Yes, I just got a notice this morning that I won another vintage Shalimar in the rosebud bottle. I placed a low bid on it a while ago and then promptly forgot about it. Those usually sells for twice what I’m paying for it, but this makes two sealed rosebud bottles of Shalimar. Ah, well. I am buying them to wear, so I guess I can rest assured that I won’t run out any time soon.

Haunami, Just poking my “nose” in… I sniffed these candles a while ago, and they seemed luscious! Nicely packaged, too. They’re made by the people who do NEST candles, so the quality is probably similar.

Ooh! These all look lovely, particularly the jasmine and chocolate products. I went through a J’Ador phase when it first launched in the 90’s so don’t feel a need to own some now, but I still don’t mind it too much. I do, however, have a strong dislike of bulb atomizers and will buy smaller sizes if I’m able just to avoid them.

And I must agree that Daisy’s helped me find some breath-taking frags. We may need to set up an ICU for all our piggy banks at this point. ;)

First-hand bulb-atomizer account: I had one years ago, and the alcohol in the fragrance evaporated, and I was left with a syrupy goo. This happened in a pretty short amount of time–say, several months. I would strongly recommend against one.

    Robin,
    Thank you for nice posting.
The chocolate candles are very tempting. I would love it as a gift.
    =)
The Gifts of the Magi seems very interesting. I read that part of the bible recently and wondered how frankincense and myrrh smelled.
I want this one too. I wish my friends were reading this.

The Dior amphora editions come with the bulb atomizer (or “poire” as the French say) packed separately in the (very gorgeous) box, so you can just decide not to use the bulb, and to decant some of the juice in a separate atomiser. A word of advice on the Guerlain Parisiennes, Heritage and Legacy collections that includes Liu and Vega: they tell you that they are sold with the bulb, only they aren’t really: the bulb is actually added to your bill as separate item!! (at a cost of €20 no less!). So if you want to save some money, just tell them you already have a bulb (which is what I’m gonna do when i go back for that bottle of Vega with my name on it).
