Barneys in New York will host The Mystery of Perfume, a panel discussion, on October 21st from 8:30 am to 10 am:
Elle editor in chief Roberta Myers + Elle beauty director Emily Dougherty invite you to unravel the mystery of perfume; A panel discussion hosted at Barneys New York.
Panelists include Antonia Bellanca of Antonia's Flowers, Ben Gorham of Byredo Parfums, Fabrice Penot of Le Labo and Frederic Malle. The event will be held at Fred's Restaurant at Barneys, Madison and Sixty-First. Tickets, which can be purchased at the Barneys website, are $25. The price is redeemable in purchases, and includes a "fabulously fragrant goody bag". (many thanks to Jessica for the news!)
Unravel the mystery of perfume? Yep, I think an hour and a half should do it!
They may even get done early. đ
More time for shopping!
Yeah, and it looks like there will be some good offerings. I’m a little bummed–I stupidly went to something like this at Macy’s last year. It was fun, but there’s nothing I want at Macy’s. Some Frederick Malle, Le Labo or Byredo? Now we’re talking!
Yeah. Barneys most definitely beats Macys on that front. Maybe on most fronts.
I was in Macy’s last spring for the first (and probably last) time: what a huge disappointment the fragrance department was. Not a single thing you couldn’t find at any reasonably well-stocked drugstore, frankly, and despite that, the most aggressive salespeople I have ever encountered. Perhaps on my next trip (four weeks and counting!) I’ll go to Barney’s.
My experience at Barneys is the opposite: great perfumes, ignored by staff.
Isn’t 8:30 am a bit early? Or is it just me…
It’s outrageously early! I’m not ready for any mysteries at that hour.
Why does unraveling the mystery of perfume have to start at 8:30 a.m.? đ I mean, I’m interested, but not that interested.
They do it before the store opens, that’s why so early.
I’m sure that’s true, but I’m with Fuddy Duddy below…do it at the end of the day!
I think we should put in a request that for the next event it should begin at 8:30 pm and followed by a completely private shopping experience with the doors closed for the evening to anyone who did not make it to the event – all the perfume counters available just for us !! YES! đ
Sounds good to me!
Sign me up, so long as there are cocktails on hand! Seriously, though, closed store or no, 8:30 a.m. is a weird time — basically you have to live in NYC, not have a job with regular hours, and yet get up kind of early… I guess all those Upper East Side ladies can just roll out of bed and shuffle around the corner to Barneys.
I’m not working that day, live on the UES, and there is no way I am shuffling out of bed that early.
Who’s filming and posting to youtube?
I wish!
Even though it starts too early in the a.m. (although who am I kidding – that’s the time I leave for work) – I’d still love to be there.
I’m up by then too. Just not really completely conscious.
I’d go for the goody bag.
Yep, me too!
Omg I hope they give samples of the new La Prairie scents – I smelled one and it was great, plus the videos are so Chanel No.5 check them out http://www.youtube.com/user/LifeThreadsLaPrairie
Thanks!
How bad is it that I want to plan the day working in the city just so I can go? My husband would say I’m sick. đ
Sounds perfectly normal to me! (ha)
